I was wondering if anyone has a way of keeping sand flies or very small biting bugs from passing through the screens on my trailer windows. Keeping the windows closed is not an option as it is very hot and humid lately. Any ideas would be appreciated as the little buggers are biting and driving me crazy.

    Thanks

I know the little buggers hate these things, so maybe try hanging, putting on window sill, or smearing on the screen itself certain plants such as Garlic mustard, wild onion, pine needle oils, or even citranella oil or bug spray.
Maybe grow repelling plants in a window planter and hang on the window sill, or just below the window.
Attach plant hangers to the house by the window, or poles in the ground to hang plants that the buggers hate.

Just a few thought for ya.

    Peace and good luck,
    Spirit Wynd

don't know if this works for sandflies but i use listerine dilluted by half with water ...spray your screens and surrounding areas of the yard with a spray bottle ...works well here on bugs and we have plenty of them

Get some of that ultra fine mesh bug netting and tape or drape pieces over the existing screens.

Get one of those carnivorous plants. I've always wanted one.

DEET oil works wonders; not bugspray, but the little vials of oil. They're banned in Canada now, but you can still get them at army suprlus stores in the US.

They are 99% DEET and will keep everything out of your camper. Just don't rub it on your skin.

Eh, I've used 99% DEET. Just made me nauseous and gave me a migraine that didn't go away for several weeks. But I didn't get a single bug bite.

Come to think of it I eat so much garlic and citrus that I never do anyway...

So have I. But people reportedly go into toxic shock, so I figure that I wouldn't tell them lather it on like sunscreen.

A couple of citrinella candles near the screen might do the trick.
