Anyone llike the band t.A.T.u here? What are your thoughts about their image? What are your favourite songs? If you don't like them, why not?

I would have put this in a sub-forum, but it doesn't fit into one particular catagory.

Well ive only listened to a couple of their tracks but they are really catchy and and i liked them a lot. I think when they first made out on stage it sparked a positive controversy that opened a lot of minds i hope.

It definatly sparked alot of contreversy, but I think it was their video "All the things she said/Ya Shola S Uma" that had the greatest effect. Have you seen it? I hope it opened up people's veiws about homosexuals though too. People do need to be more accepting of others.

    Doubtful.

I liked them. But was annoyed when they turned out to be lying.

    I would.

Doubt it. It was pure champagne lesbian stuff, totally disconnected from reality. Those video clips were mainly aimed at old men who like to hang around parks in raincoats.

I do hope that pop music begins to reflect modern life and tolerance a lot more, but Tatu's clips were really just gimmicks designed to create outrage to score cheap publicity.

And a 22 year old with a video machine.

You have to look for it. But it does.
    Even this does.

Well, their gimmick probably reflected society's desire to to escape into an exciting fantasy - in this case: Lesbian school girls - I suppose. That the producers realised this clip would work probably proves your point.

I think what they really did was make homosexuality really apparent to the homophoes or the people with sticks up their ass. Maybe they did do some of the makeout seens for publicity but they also helped homo people find their place in the mainstream.

yea i got to see the video a while back. I liked it. And maybe it didnt change a lot of peoples minds, but you actually see more girl on girl kisses then before. But i think since it was all a lie, none of the ones you actually see in the media are are like hetro kisses. Theyre all just sexual and for people to get off on.

I thought they were a joke and a typical product of todays commercial media entertainment. Their so called foxy lesbian image didn't make me curious for their music, seemed more like a replacement for the quality of their sounds as so many mainstream artists of today, so I never checked it out.
And I don't think they'll change peoples minds on homosexuality at all.

I would suggest that it did the complete opposite of that. Fact is, most lesbians are not lolita style school girls - as Tatu were depicted. So I think all it did was create a totally unrealistic image of the homosexual community for homophobes.

Singers like K.D Lang and groups like The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower do far more for homosexuals with their images that state: "Im gay, but Im a normal person. And if you dont like it you can fuck off."

As far as rolemodels for young people confused about their sexuality goes, Id suggest that those groups pass on a far more positive message, than the Tatu message because their message is more along the lines of not caring what others think, rather than trying to impress other people with their "antics."

I forgot all about that song. I did like it, it was catchy, I could care less what the image was to the video, or what was being portrayed between the lines. I just like the catchy hook.
