I didn't see any threads on post-rock and the search tool isn't working. =\ I figured I would start up something for this amazing genre here in alternative. So, what's your favorite post-rock band(s). My favorite are: Sigur Rós Godspeed You! Black Emperor Edit: I've noticed some people have viewed this thread with no reply. If you appreciate good music then you will like this genre. It's like classical music but it's modern and uses rock instruments. I highly recommend bands to anyone. This is modern music in the purist form of art (to me).
Godspeed is pretty cool from what I've heard of them. I'm not sure what exactly falls under this category but (I'm taking a wild guess here) here are some bands I like: The Mars Volta ISIS Neurosis Jesu
if you like GY!BE definately check out A Silver Mt. Zion. He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts of Light Still Grace the Corner of Our Rooms is one of the best post-rock albums out there. Do Make Say Think, Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai are all really good too. Post-rock is excellent to listen to when trying to pace your brain (studying, sleeping, coming down from trips, etc)
excellent genre that is just starting to really blow up recently. every band mentioned so far is definitely worth a listen to anyone who appreciates music.
Testify! Do Say Make Think are a long time favourite of mine. I was really impressed by their album from last year. Id also recomend This Will Destroy You. They had an album from last year called Young Mountain which ranged from these gorgeous heavenly orchestral style guitar crescendos, all the way through to some pretty spasmodic math-metal. By the same token, from Australia, I dont think you can go past The Instant, and their album Notes & Errata. Probably will appeal to fans of GY!BE through to fans of At The Drive In (without the vocals.)
Not to be a genre freak, but Sigur Ros isn't Post-Rock. But yeh, 65Daysofstatic, GYBE, a Silver Mt. ion etc are all good bands.
i got into post rock for a bit but at the end of the day found it a little too boring. But the best that I heard came from talk talk and bark psychosis.
