    Hi Everyone

As i have been trying Meditation for about one week now, i have a couple of questions thought i might ask.

First off, the whole meditation thing has pretty much blown me away- not sure why i started?? but boy it really is something else. Hard to explain - you just have to keep at i suppose. Feel pretty spaced out afterwards, i imagine this is also normal.

Do you ever feel a bit anxious in the run up to actually doing the meditation? almost like ' here we go time to do battle' probably not a good thing - just seems it can be a bit of a heaven / hell thing sometimes - if that makes sense, those relaxing insightful moments are amazing though - i cant get over that. almost like Drug trips without the drugs !

I am a little worried that i might start being a little bit holyer than now - i know the Big answers blah blah...
sort of thing - and probably drive my wife mad in the process.. just need to chill a bit i think

There is a Buddhist centre near where i live that has meditation classes, although i am trying to do this myself, just feel i have done that route in the past with Tai chi and Kung-fu, i feel i can sort of learn this gradually myself?

reading a great book - Mindfulness in Plain English, what an amazing book.

    Many Thanks

    Andy

Brother, or Sister, I have been meditating for almost thirty years, first with TM and then with Tibetan Buddhist techniques.

In all that time I never encountered anxiety related to the practice except insofar as questioning my entire raison d'etre.

Moreover, there was yes, a time when I went through the holy pridefulness, but I was just out of my teens and still quite idealistic. But life has shown me that I am no better nor worse than anyone else. For all of my own actions and motives.

Meditation alone doesn't make one anything. It's rather like removing a fog from ones glasses. Yes, that's good, but it just means one is clear for the first time. No reason to get all Christian about it.

Meditation can be calming, rejuvenating and restorative. When practiced regularly, it can aid in reducing stress, lowering blood pressure and increasing personal awareness.
