it seems the world as we know it is one continuous thought... someone had an idea sometime back and here we are, still continuing to answer question upon compounded question... seeking to arrive at some conclusion of life. Cessation of thought is cessation of life... this is how any conclusion that is accepted as the final conclusion - yet is logically not the final conclusion - always arrives at failure. Life and logic are intertwined as if fingers crossed wishing for good luck... the reason to live is the reason to think.
I can't meditate. I can do that 'Tze Tzan' Dagon thing where you focus your mind on posture and mind and body try and find balance between the focus of your energy, but cessation of thought, or achieving meditation by thinking of nothing is impossible for me.
I think that the whole concept of acheiving some sort of a meditative state by forcing oneself to not think is idiotic and counter productive. In my opinion real meditation is feeling the closest to oneself in a true and steady introspective thinking process.
Thought and feelings are empty if you don't analyze and relate to them. They are just there, to come and to go. Not the type of relaxation for me.
Nothing, but the dude's post is pointless and I don't think that anyone wants to give him the benefit of getting attention.
Feelings are a product of thought. Emptiness can only be achieved with no thought... no thought means no connection to life. Nothing just "comes and goes", its all perception, which is thought. The point of meditation is to arrive at the original idea - the reason we perceive at all... Meditation in my eyes is chipping away at the world logically... centering into a dreamlike form of instant q and a where fear is not one of the questions
Seems you didn't get the point? ---- it seems the world as we know it is one continuous thought... someone had an idea sometime back and here we are, still continuing to answer question upon compounded question... seeking to arrive at some conclusion of life. Cessation of thought is cessation of life... this is how any conclusion that is accepted as the final conclusion - yet is logically not the final conclusion - always arrives at failure. Life and logic are intertwined as if fingers crossed wishing for good luck... the reason to live is the reason to think. "Meditation in my eyes is chipping away at the world logically" ---- I know this may not be the "normal" how many pencils are on your desk sort of thread... but as I recall this was once a random thoughts forum?
With no dissection, there is no thought. To absorb anything is to be aware of it, which is to think of it as existing, which is thought. I think its about accepting and processing all inputs without fearing the possible conclusions, thus, potentially arriving at any conclusion. When truly open to all conclusions, the mind can be open to accepting *the* conclusion.
Its always nice to quote a philosopher without prior knowledge, thanks for pointing that out Wrapping around *all* conclusions is the key... the correct conclusion must be absolutely conclusive. Not saying I personally know the secrets of the universe... I'm still figuring out how to begin to understand them here, now
Allowing yourself to possibly conclude the whole purpose of life is to get lots of pussy and money is part of the point Perhaps it is the correct conclusion, anything is worth examining... I don't think pussy and money is how we fit into the universal order of things... but without knowing the method to the madness, who knows
He's not talking about meditation as it is, but merely observing that simply being conscious is a form of meditating. I see what he's saying.. I love it. I love what life is and it's meaning Why do so many people ask what is the meaning of life? Why can't they see that the answer is all around them? the meaning of life is to make life. Why else would we love gardening so much? Why else would we love to have pets and care for living things? Why else would we have children? Why else would we even think of having children? they suck, and are loud and stupid. well they are cute, but like why else would we have sex? The pleasure? surely not just that. There is a consistantly turning primordial cog in everyone of us that says, procreate! and thrive! plant plants, care for things, and survive! protect your life with everything you know! Why else are men so sex hungry? to plant a seed. Why else would they want heirs? to continue the line. to continue humanity. Everything else? is technology.
Though we may not live forever as we are some part of us has lived since the beginning of life... and we as a whole somehow introduce ourselves into half of a new life... who we are in a moment is a part of who someone will be for a lifetime, while we continue to be conglomerates of the same process - halving new lives as we go... fascinating... I look forward to taking part in this grand scheme....
