so i heard this story about this American that went to Mexico and he somehow bumped his head to where it was a serious injury to where blood was coming out and he goes to a mexican hospital. of course his American insurence didn't cover him so the mexicans didn't give him any treatment and he died. hearing something like that really makes me mad when i know how many illegals get medical care for free in the US.
No, they do not. Medical care requires insurance, and most illegel immigrants do not have it. They might get basic health related help in free clinics, but other than that... nothing. Health-wise, the US is way behind. Alot of European nations have mandatory health insurance, which is given to everyone, and taken out from every person's salary.
Yes, Pavel, they do. Many working-class Americans cannot even find affordable healthcare, yet our system will treat an illegal alien with no money or insurance, without second-thought. It happens all the time.
My mistake then, I just did not imagine that it would sink that low... blame the Democrats... this will turn into hell if Kerry gets elected.
Well, Pavel, normally I would agree with you. But Bush is just as bad on the issue of immigration. It's kind of sick that we have a president who is willing to take our rights away in the name of security, while leaving the borders wide open. Meanwhile, there are doctors with clean records from Europe who have to wait MONTHS for approval to enter the country. We let people from Mexico and Cuba into this country without hardly any background checks at all.
There is not much of a solution for this at all, but I would still suppose that the Patriot Act (being the shit that it is) still does more than what Kerry would do (nothing) to keep illigel immigrants out. The US is too politicaly correct lately. Plus, I would blame the Democrats for the breach in the US borders in the first place, they are much more linient in foreign issues.
Don't underestimate Cuba, it has some of the best therapeutic and cosmetic medicine facilities in the world.
I was reading an article the other day where a homeless man in the US died on the street because the ambulance crew didn't feel like putting him in the ambulance because he smelled so bad. They just propped him up against a wall and left him there to be discovered dead the next morning. Joy. I keep thinking about taking trips to Canada to get in on some of that free dental...teeth are friggin expensive and almost never decently covered by insurance.
Our healthcare system might suck, but it's not half as bad as what you'll find in Cuba. To even compare the two is just ridiculous.
and i hear everyday of another hospital getting closed down because a lack of funds. how can this be?? hospitals lacking funds to treat people, or Americans at that.
That is absurd. MILK is rationed out to famalies with babies, RATIONED and you are going to sit there and make a ridiculous statement like that?
Yeah, go ahead and do that, and when you need a major operation, enjoy sitting on a waiting list for a good couple of months.
What, we don't have lists here? lmao It takes SIX MONTHS to get in just to see the dentist at the sliding scale place here...by then what could've been a filling will be a friggin root canal.. never mind tring to get a little girl that needs heart surgery into a subsidized childrens hospital...I'm STILL working on that one.
Its wierd reading this, because ime from a country with a health service thing going on... in the UK we have the NHS (natoinal health service) and I think weve had it a while...dunno when it started. They take a little tax from working folk, and it goes straight towards the NHS...if I break an arm, I go to hospital and ime treted, if ik need stiotches...and x-ray...anything...just get it... Do you have to pay in America if you need treatment? ive been brought up where treatment etc is form the NHS so I cant understand anythign else really...
You sure do have to pay. My gallbladder surgery put me $2,400 in debt, after insurance covered all that it would. And after that my company dropped me from health insurance because I wasn't working enough hours the 4 weeks after my surgery to be considered full-time. Now how fucked up is that.
I've got a $15,000 debt because my dental insurance only allows $1,000 a year, and only 20% of major surgeries... so I'm going to be paying for those 3 root canals and 3 crowns for a long, long time....
Hospitals are only required to treat life & death emergencies, and childbirth. Chronic conditions are not usually treated without compensation, unless it is a free clinic, which is usually supported by donations, not taxes.
