Just aquired 83 grams of fresh cubensis shrooms (14 shrooms in all). They were kept inside a vented plastic bag in the refrigerator for about 2 days(as far as I know) and are a little bruised and wilted but also a little dry. My questions are: 1. One of the larger caps have a lot of black snootiness on it. Is this spores from another shroom in the bag? Is it safe to consume? 2. I will not be able to consume them for another couple days, Is there a quick and efficient way to keep them from rotting/molding? 3. How many grams of fresh shrooms should be a good start for a beginner? 4. a Couple of them that I have look a little off to me but I suppose it could have been from age. The stems bruise black/blue... what do you think? Thank you very much in advance. Any and all help is highly appreciated!
Sounds like spores. If the caps are mostly open, that's probably the case. If you have doubts, ask the grower. You can either dry them or you can keep them in the fridge. They last for about a week total in the fridge. For more information on drying them, check the Shroomery. I'd say about 25-30 grams should do it. My favorite way is to dry them just a little. Like fan dry them for a few hours, just until they won't squirt when you bite into them. They won't last long like this, but if you keep them in the fridge partially dried, they'll be fine for a few extra days. Just make sure to calculate your dose from fresh weight, then dry them.
Cool, Thanks. Should I put them back into the plastic bag and leave it open or spread them out onto a piece of cardboard? I am going to have to refrigerate them until tomorrow night. What's the best way to store them in the fridge?
Took these a couple days ago and had a blast. My boyfriend whom has never tripped on shrooms before did not trip very hard for some reason which was disappointing. I felt like a little kid again and ran around the house with paint, highlighters, and markers and colored a billion things then laid on the kitchen floor and hugged my dog for a while. It was like being home again... it all felt right. One odd thing about the trip that I've never experienced before was that everything felt like a memory of something someone once told me and it was all playing out before me. Very very weird but interesting. I gained alot of insight to alot of personal issues with this trip. I realized that I take alot of things for granted and that my life is good and I should appreciate everything that I have instead of being picky, greedy, and spoiled. I also realized that I should not over analyze everything and let everything happen as it should instead of picking it apart until there is nothing left. Letting life unfold as it should is what makes this world a wonderous and curious place.
