You from Humboldt Co,Ca? I need INFO!!!!

If anyone on here is in humboldt...specifically arcata eureka then ya've gotta help me out!.
I need info... like how far is CR from anything? How bad are the trailer parks? Which are the best apartments? Worst neighborhoods? Best landlords? etc...I've gotta rent there in a bit.

You might even get lucky someday and make a few bucks off this if ya want to...I need someone there to pick up a form for me from a govie office that's being horribly annoying and won't mail the ^%&^*()(*&^ thing.

CR is pretty close to everything, there is a bus that goes almost everywhere that stops on the CR campus, at least (I haven't been there, but i don't think it's too far)...There are really no terrible areas in arcata (coming from a big city), but eureka does have some tweak stuff causing some social problems...strombeck properties own my building, they seem ok but they also raised my rent and took my cable, but everything else has been chill. I recommend really shopping around...people here are really cool and will talk to you, so ask residents of the property what they think...so far I love living in humboldt county, its been one of the best places I've ever lived....what form did you need? if it's free and in arcata I could find a way to grab one, scan it and email it to you or something...

I've been a bit iffy about Eureka..last thing I want is to end up living next door to a meth lab.


I'm just trying to somehow avoid sitting in a motel for weeks looking for a place...hoping by some miracle I can snag something that isn't a rathole while still sitting here far far away (it's worth a try anyway).

I'll PM you later if I can ever get through again to that govie office (housing) and if I can convince them to leave the form at the desk or whatever...they're driving me nuts......it's in Eureka somewhere. At the rate they move at I might be there before I get another response from them.

PPM (professional properties management) is soooo freakin slow. you have to call them incessantly in order for them to get anything done.

i really like living in Arcata.. a lot of people don't like Strombeck because he changed the lease from month to month to a 12 month, raised rent, and took away cable. when i first moved here (Campus Apartments) the rent was $395 with utilities and full cable included. Now it's not to $420 with no free cable (a 40 dollar value).

I would try checking out Woodridge Apartments, Campus Apartments (its pretty cheap, although they are only studios), or Bayside Apartments. all of those are in Arcata. Eureka is not AS bad as it sounds, but i would much rather live in Arcata. Lots of people call Eureka "Eurtweeka". Hah.

The bus will take you pretty much anywhere you need to go. Plus, everything in Arcata is basically within walking distance.. its a small town.. so that's good.

And yes, I did spend the dreaded month in a motel looking for a place through the slowest rental agencies on this side of the mother earth. Wasn't so bad except for the motel microwave burning all my popcorn....
