I'm going to vote for the first time. im losing my voting virginity. have no idea who i have decided on yet though. any tips on why you want to vote for a canidate? specifically the one you want to vote for.
I think it's wonderful that you're involving yourself in the democratic action that makes our country great. Congratulations and feel secure in your choice no matter what it is because you've done your part in preserving our democracy.
yeah, i registered for this election, but i never did all these years because i thought it was a waste of time, and I'm kinda into that its a whole conspiracy and that the president is already chosen, and that our votes dont count,. i mean, bush really didnt even win. but im, going to vote.
everyone needs to vote, the best way to decide imo, is to pick what's important to you and look at each candidate's actual voting records, if you don't like either of the two main one's vote elsewhere, and some people will say that is a waste of a vote, but the more people that do that the more it sends a message that they aren't happy with the candidates (michael moore encouraged people to vote for a ficus tree since there was a person running unaposed in one district , the ficus tree won) the voting process is quite easy and quick
For president? I'm voting for Obama because his positions are most closely aligned with my own on social and economic issues. Support of Estate taxes, more funding for science and education, on export subsidies, on the fact that he'll elect progressive judges, healthcare, immigration, access to technology. We both support withdrawal from Iraq.
I support him. I like his policies on a lot of things like immigration, Iraq, and our economy. He seems like the right man to lead our fine country.
Let me start with my opinion on immigration. Alright, the problem with McCains position on immigration. First of all, he doesn't mean it. He was a senator of Arizona for a long time, and he never made any serious commitments on it. His stated policy, is one to make the GOP happy. That is one of strict border control. Let me explain why that is a bad idea. First off, deporting people won't work. The reason people come over here is because we offer opportunities to them. There are advertisements on Mexican radio for people to come over and work here. We offer them jobs because we need their labor. Even in a recession, there are still many unfilled basic labor jobs. Picking fruit and such. We offer these people jobs and don't control the process of immigration. In no sense is a logical reform to just throw everyone out who's labor we subsist on who have formed families here because our policies have failed. We simply need more legal immigration, so we should make sure all the people we invited here have access to those opportunities. Furthermore, the idea of more border patrol is facile. Most illegal immigrants aren't here because they hopped the fence. That's simple a dehumanizing portrayal. Most illegal immigrants are people who came over legally, and overstayed their visas. So a border fence is unwelcoming, financially irresponsible, and opposed to the very ideas of American Society. This is America: The New Colossus ( on the statue of liberty) Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
Anyone who agrees with McCain's immigration policy does not understand what a critical role migrant workers play in this country's economy and therefore should be shot.
Don't vote republican (and ron paul isn't included). and voting third party hurts the democrats... *clears throat*
On economy. That's a broad topic. Primarily McCain has spoken about making the tax cuts of Bush permanent. This means the government receives less income. This is also while the government is spending more money. When the government spends more money and takes in less, it compensates by printing more money. This is inflation, and it's runaway. That means that in the 8 years since Bush has been in office, Something that cost $100 in 2000, now costs $125. This is one of the major reasons for the current recession and the high cost of gas since the price of oil is pegged to the dollar. You can't spend more money while taking in less income. The Republican model of fiscal conservatism by printing more money is disastrous.
Voting third party does not necessarily hurt the Democrats. Statistically, it barely makes a difference and if it does hurt someone then it will be the Republicans. (Because of Barr... even though I do hope that people are too smart to vote for that flip-flopper)
depends on the 3rd party and who the person was going to vote for if they didnt vote third party, right? for instance, i will be voting 3rd party and wasn't going to vote for obama, so i'm not hurting the dems at all really.
I personally like the fair tax, when it comes to economic issues. It's nice to see McCain try to make government smaller too... yet it won't make it small enough to actually make a difference.
