This comes from a newspaper in the Central Valley. That area is very Republican. An indictment from that newspapers shows the Bush Administration has go over the line

650 billion down Iraq war drain
    last updated: July 06, 2008 03:02:44 AM

Congress passed the Iraq war spending plan. The amount of money that was passed for the war effort was $162 billion. This brings a total of $650 billion since the war started. Although no one can fathom this amount, it does seem outrageous.
What if there was no Iraq war? Would our government spend this amount on needed projects here in the United States? My biggest desire would be to give financial help to our brave soldiers that are in hospitals and rehabilitation places. I receive in the mail a constant barrage of private solicitations asking for donations for wounded veterans. Our government needs to have a 100 percent program to fully care for our military people who are hurt protecting us here at home. Let's remember them and help them.

If a portion of the exhorbitant contracts awarded to cherry picked companies like KBR and Blackwater were better scrutinized and accounted accurately there would be enough money to treat all veterans with the respect and care they were promised on enlistment, not to mention a full GI bill like the WWII vets received.
