JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - The perception that HIV affected women are thin is forcing South African women to gorge themselves in order to look healthy, according to Tessa van der Merwe of the International Association for the Study of Obesity.

She said that at least one in three South African women is now overweight because of fear that being thin means having AIDS. "Regretfully, there is also a perception that if a black woman is thin, she might have HIV/AIDS or that her husband can't afford to feed her well,"

Almost 50 percent of women and a third of the men are overweight here. The figure is just 20 percent less than the prevailing rate in the US. But van der Merwe said black women are seriously affected with 30 percent now clinically obese.

They do over here... but hell, I don't get out much here in the middle of nowhere so I don't know if they still do.

 

If I get lunch out, I get a McChiken.. They are only 1 dollar, and it's hard for McDonalds to screw it up, even tho they manage sometimes.

 

Quizno's needs to come up with ads that have some intelligence. A couple years back, they ran a commercial with a nice looking businness woman digging a Quizno's wrapper out of a garbage can and licking it clean. The slogan was, 'Quizno's. They're that good.' They thought that would give someone an appetite for Quizno's.

Then other companies started copying the theme. A pop tart commercial showed some guy in the office who dribbled some of the pop tart filling on his trousers. He then took off his pants and licked the jelly off the trousers in the midst of the other office workers.

I'm not making this up. Ads are that dumb. Like they say, stupidity is contagious.

yeah, they have $5 footlongs here at subway and quiznos. i love the veggie sub!

 

Quizno's sandwiches taste about the same to me, each and every one of them. We have the $5 footlong as well, but its only a selected few off the menu.

 

id pay that for their chicken carbonara. wish they had spinach instead of lettuce though. I love the ranch chicken at subway. minus the bacon.
