I love Axl but he chose his own path, by the sounds of this group guns n roses just wasnt meant to be, velvet revolver rocks!
Guns was a great band, but it certainly wasn't meant to be. Axl is a domineering freak. He's a child. Slash wanted the band to be more raw hard rock, and less instrument based. That is probably the best reason why it's got less wild solos.
Well, that was unfair. I've never met Axl, but from what the band says he was doing, and from what he did to his fans, and certain people in the press, he's really a child.
Ten, to my knowledge, Axl hasn't done drugs in a very long time. One of the reasons why the band broke up was because Axl believed that the rest of the band was involved too heavily in heroine usage. I think it would be easier to assume the Duff McKeagan or Slash (who did) would have OD'd by now, rather than Axl.
Velvet Revolver's CD Contraband is AMAZING. I bought it, the first one I bought in like 2 years (Thanks kazaa ) At any rate, I would say there are 8 strong songs on that CD, out of 13 maybe? It's a superb album. Think about--Guns and Roses minus Axel the asshole and SCOTT WEILAND--(stone temple pilots)-it's an all star band. What is even better is I saw them IN CONCERT A FEW WEEKS AGO at Rolling Rock Festival in Latrobe, Pennsylvania--by far best band there. Scott Weiland can just capture everyone and Slash coming down into the pit and playing was awesome in of itself.
That's not what I meant. What I meant was that Axl Rose is a douche-bag who would make music a better place by disappearing.
yea, but thank goodness slash woke up huh??? as for axl's new GnR, forget it, and velvet revolver, i havent heard the album yet, i kinda had a pessimistic outlook on it, but i guess i havent even heard it, so ill give it a try in the next couple days. but the i guess the first days of gnr was just to good to eb true huh?
Yeah, I agree with you there, Ten. And I also agree that the new Guns 'N Roses just doesn't work. It's been stapled together like a peice of Ikea for the sole purpose of making money. The new guitarist, Buckethead, is better than Slash in terms of technical prowess but A : he looks like a moron with a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head, and B : he doesn't fit the sound of the band. He was better with his own solo work, and even then I found it a bit quarky and annoying.
In my opinion, if you liked Alice in Chains you pretty much have to like Velvet Revolver. To me, they sound exactly alike.
What is wrong with you people Velvet Revolver is bringing back rock! Oh wait, I forgot, everyone is all into the teeny shit and grunge.
::trying to control anger by ignoring shatter:: I like Velvet Revolver better than GnR..but thats about it.Actually, i like them a lot better than GnR..
If Velvet Revolver is a supergroup, then piss on my face cuz Jesus Jumped-Up Christ they're horrible. Scott Weiland couldn't write a lyric that a) makes sense or b) isn't crap if his life depended on it. Don't believe me--how much does he value his own life? He doesn't care enough to live, so you think he gives a rat's ass about syntax or usage or rhyme scheme or vocal ability? And the band...yeah, I liked all those solos the first time, when it was called the 70's. Give me a break. You want supergroup? Try Cream, Temple of the Dog even...hell, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men for all I care... not to offend, but this is a sorry state of affairs.
Did I just hear what I think I heard? Guns and Roses not meant to be? Gnr were great and no velvet revolver can replace them, their music isn't even exactly the same.
I saw them live, and trust me, Scott Weiland does now care about his life. He has dumped drugs for the sake of his family and it's about time. And now he is in a great band, the lyrics are awesome and the music kicks ass. Give it a chance, I was skeptical at first but i bought the CD and it knocked my ass on the ground.
Yeah, Axl's new Guns sucks, Remeber when they played on Mtv a few years ago and Axl couldn't even sing any more, God that was a disgrace to the GnR name. But Velvet Revolver rules, the new album is great! I'm so glad to see Slash in an awsome band again.
They suck, sorry... Scott Weiland looks like he should be the poster child for anorexia...he should have stayed on drugs, at least his music was better....
