Just came back from holiday. 3 weeks away, lovely. And during this 3 weeks my flat mate is to tend to my plants. Beautiful lush and green.

He said via email there was an extra strong smell coming from the room but that was cool as it is flowering time.

So on my return I do notice the smell, not fragrent just different to before.

I open the doors and goddam! Yellow crusty leaves like from an alien plant, my first thought was heat problems, then I notice the nutrient bottle. All but empty... WHAT THE FUCK?!
I gave him all the instructions he needed and instead using what in total would have been 100mls of nutrient it looks like half a litre or more has gone in... so come to think of it the smell was rather chemically!

Also gone was my Superthrive which I had been using for months and in 3 weeks he has used the remaining half. Now I dont know if he was nuting every day or just fucked up on the amounts ('yeah I may have used a little more, but not much more') but jeezussss. I gave him a daily table of basic instructions! Oh and had the plants been turned? Doesn't look like it.

Fortunately the plants look saveable with a good flushing that I'll do tonight, and the heads look fine. But I'll have to outlay to get some more nutes and all this may stunt the plants for some time.

Oh, and my clones? Keep them moist was the instruction... I come home and find them waterlogged and just a mush... so, they're 99.9% gonna be dead.

Its not that he fucked up, its that he didn't relaise he was fucking up. I didn't have a go at him as he did me a 'favour' but my girls are not good right now:mad:

That sucks my man! Id be screwed if i had to leave for more than 4-5 days or so! Even if i did leave instructions.....i know they would forget something, over/under-do something, etc. There are a few tips and what not that i don't even realize i do anymore, just a habit, and i would forget to put it on the list knowing me. But atleast they are going to be saveable! Too bad 'bout the clones tho. And good on ya mate for not blowin up on your buddy! Tomorrow's another day to grow right?!? ;) Hopefully ya get 'er back in full swing soon. Cheers bud!

You think he would have noticed, especially with the clones.
They have obviously been shrivling and he continues to waterlog... I just don't get it. He seems oblivious... and he's a smart guy as well.
But I wont go mad on him, despite the journey and extra money I'll need to fork out for the nutes and the hours it will take tonight to flush, and more money for seeds and the extra time that all takes... SERENITY NOW!
I'll give an update on the weekend with how they're doing.

    DTA> bottom line. :D
Can only blame yourself. Plants come first. forget plans and concerts, or whatever else may keep you away for a few days/weeks.

If you have never seen this person grow, then you cant expect them to do so.. Lessons learned.. Dont go away for a few day and have GF water plants ect ect.. < yeah Ive been there but I dont go there no more. :D
    Do all the work myslef.:cheers2:
Hope you can recover, also thats something youll learn form this ,should it happen again, youll be a expert.

Instructions were fill the 2 ltr bottle and water 500mls per plant every day, nutes of 10mls for the 2 ltr bottle every mon, wed, and Fri, with 2 drops of superthrive every day. Clones keep moist.
How he got that messed up I do not know.
3 weeks a 4 frazzled plants and 12 dead clones later, I've learnt my lesson.

Some people ? this is why theres a direction on a shampoo bottle..:p.
But at least you got back in time. :) you should be fine in a week, or so..
    Best of luck to you...

If you would like to hear my horror story heres one.
I have a 3 rooms now. and becaue some of them dont have doors on them, and basically all in one room.
Flower room is wide open, and the others are covered with opaque drapes. Well the other day in mid flower my GF turned on the overhead light in the room to look for shit she has in storage. Leaving light on while plants are in flower. OK she is stupid and so am I.. I had left those light bulbs in ceiling fixture. Not anymore, problem solved.
I was having a problem with the dog pushing the door open so I tied it up..
But it didnt stop a human.

that's why on the little packet of desiccant packed with a stereo system, it says 'do not eat'....

Never underestimate the power of idiocy, even in the brightest of us....after all, the dark side is strong and sneaky....and has cookies.

    Hey Razz,

No pics yet, just come back off the holls and I've a mountain of pics to get through...

I did last night flush the plants. I swear I was getting dizzy off the chemicals flooding out the pot. Had a look this morning and they do seem healthier for sure. Bit more colour in the yellow frazzled leaves.
When moving the plants to the flushing area last night, the weight bent one of the plants main stalk... horror! Seems cool though, and I've had to make a few splints from cotton buds to support some branches. Looks to be a good yield coming, though this current state has stunted them a little.
    Shame the clones are fooked.

lol @ chemicals flooding out the pot. No disrespect but your flat mate must be thick as sh*t if he/she cant follow simple instructions.....sounds like you got back just in time to save them.

My leaves still have a chemical smell... should I get leaf wipes from the garden store and clean the underside? I'm a newb to all this so is that the common practice?

one small vegi start, large veg, flower.. more work than Id like to have..

never heard of that nick? Id expect some leaching but what are your tips like are they burned, yellow what.. How much light you got on these.
Have you tried a nurse light at full 24? or do you think that could mess you up even more.
Again not my medium. Just curious. :cheers2:

The leaves around the main heads are still nute burned and yellow... better than before, but yellow. Shame I haven't got pics yet. But the other leaves are doing fine. I gave another flush last night and wont water or nute again till Wednesday as they need a dry spell for sure. The light is a 12/12 and feel any changes may stress them some more.
    And what is leaching exactly?

Id pull the light away and induce 24. Will help if you have a Vegie light. MH, and not hps./. That will bring back the green,..

Plants process nutes through photo synth, all nutes go to the plants leafs faster than anywhere else other than the roots.. drooping ect. Once its been over nuted, your new growth is going to come from betwen nodes, imo. Leaching your leafs become heavy with all the water and nutes and no light to process the energy nutes make. The more light the better. Not less hours longer days of light but not directly intence on the plants.
Ive burned many in a day form water, nutes. If they havent fallen over dead they can take more light to make em grow green again.. imo.

can t pull the light away, the lamp is at the top of the wardrobe and due to some basic newb errors they'v've over strectched and are just under the light itself, though still keeping cool with the fans.
One main bud though has gone pass and due to this its hairs aren't so developed which may cause problems at harvest, but hey, shit happens.

They are dropping quite alot though that's for sure, that's why I need them to dry out a bit.
