hey guys I'm going to get my wrist tatoo here soon. I'm worried that while its healing, it might interfere with me being able to play drums and work at my job. I do a lot of heavy lifting and stuff like that. Anybody ahve any experience with either?
Mine got in the way and I knocked some of the scab off and I was just a cashier folding clothes. So yeah, I'd say it will get the way.
It's a fussy spot to heal but not a huge pain in the ass. As long as you treat it nicely for the first week or so you should be all good.
^^^ditto The concern is that you'll knock off scabs or rub it up against clothing while its healing. This can cause poor healing and a patchy look. I don't think it will be interefering in that the pain will make it hard to work, but you'll have to keep it clean and proteccted.
put A&D or tattoo goo or whatever your artist gives you to put on it... and KEEP IT ON IT so it doesn't dry and scab. tattoos shouldn't scab. then take a paper towel and get it damp so it doesn't soak up all the moisturizing goo... tape it around your wrist. then put a tennis wristband or something similar (top of an old sock or whatever) over it to keep it well protected while you're working. the pain shouldn't be bad. whatever you do, don't scratch it or let it dry. if it dries it will peel off half the ink. i see so many people not properly moisturizing their brand new tattoos, and then they end up looking like shit. so yeah.. MOISTURIZE!! and don't pick at it. not just for wrists, for all of them.
palm side is much more sensitive. although anytime there is bone right underneath the tattooing needle, it's painful, so i can see other parts of the wrist hurting a bit. but it burns like a bitch on the inside of the wrist. nothing like the inside of the upper arm, right near the armpit. i nearly hit someone.
thanks to those of you with the healing advice, but this isn't my first tattoo I know how to take care of a tattoo while its fresh.
