Do you use them and if so what kind? I have been using Sandalwood, becuase I don't know where some of my other beads went!
Rosewood that is always with me And sandalwood at home. I like to use them pretty much all day when I am alone, and when work is not overwhelming. -
Do you notice any difference between different types of beads during meditation? Ive heard that the different types of woods/seeds/stones have different effects, but Ive never looked to much into it and havn't gotten a chance to try
Well, nothing spiritual if thats what your getting at. The only differance is that I find it much easier to use the rosewood as the beads are less than half the size of the sandalwood. The sandalwood is nice but I havent used them since I got the rosewood. I also have japa for my wrist that I hand made out of regular beads and porcelein. But they just hang on a little statue of a child Jesus I have at home. They are my favorite, but as I made them with no instruction (and I had never made a peice of jewlrey in my life prior) they are starting to unravel and break up. Not like, fall apart but the string is fraying on the ends. I should fix them though, the porcelein is wonderful blu mixed with the black and brown colors
I found some bone malas on the net and was astonished to see a Buddhist meditation tool made of bones, isn't Buddhist dharma not suppose to kill.
look for a disclaimer, the bone may have been taken from a corpse. yes a wild corpse that was already dead
Sandalwood! For those unsure of what mala beads are, they are for when meditating, and you simply use them in harmony with your breaths, to keep focused.
I always wondered what those beads were for....do you just play with them in your fingers while meditating or what?
I use rudrakshas, they are an extremely powerful healing bead. Malas, liquid soul, are used to count the repetition of a mantra (japa). That way a certain discipline of doing a certain amount of japa daily can be followed. It is also useful in that it helps to keep your mind focussed rather than wandering away from the mantra.
