i'd love to see someone play at red rocks. GOD, it's gorgeous. just waiting around for the show is nice. my best friend got married there. i just like to sit there admit the red bones of earth. but anyway, rush. hm, well, i recognize their technical mastery, their great lyrics and such. but for some reason they do NOTHING for me. it's kinda like most opera. i LOVE a couple of operas, several arias and such, but most opera leaves me cold. rush is the same way. though i DO really love to tell rush elitists "I LOVE RUSH! tom sawyer is like, one of my favorete songs EVER!" just to watch them make that rush elititist make the "i'm dealing with a philistine" face.
yeah, actually, if you throw in mynameiskc, that's about 40k. i'm really embarassed about that. they haven't actually been worthwhile posts. i'm going to get dial up to slow down my internet chat addiction.
Rush Elitists are funny. I've got loads of friends that fall into this category, and while I own nearly every album they've ever done, and have seen them about 8 times. I don't consider myself one, because I don't compare all of my music to them. Like they do. Such a weird thing to do. I love The Trees and Working Man; they're probably my two favourites. Tom Sawyer is undeniable but I've heard it too many times in my life now. There's a guy from NYC called Corn Mo that does a cover of "Spirit of Radio" entirely on accordion. The hilarious part is he's also written a song about getting laid by a girl he met at a Rush concert and makes him king of the Rushophiles because everyone knows male Rush fans outnumber the female variety by like 1000 to 1...
The Trees - Rush There is unrest in the forest There is trouble with the trees For the maples want more sunlight And the oaks ignore their pleas The trouble with the maples And they're quite convinced they're right They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade There is trouble in the forest And the creatures all have fled As the maples scream, "Oppression!" And the oaks just shake their heads So the maples formed a union And demanded equal rights The oaks are just too greedy We will make them give us light Now there's no more oak oppression For they passed a noble law And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, axe, and saw To me that says demands for equality are an uneccesary hindrence to society.
Never heard of em, or the songs or anything. Dont like those lyrics though-cant get any sensible message from it really
