    A whole lot less.

Nothing worse than a bad teacher, just like there's nothing better than a good teacher.

they were the best teachers. geniuses who took no shit off of anyone, didn't believe in "too much homework" or that self-esteem was more important than learning shit. they got so tired of all the bullshit lumped on the profession by the me generation parents who felt so guilty about ignoring their kids that they wouldn't accept that just maybe their kids were idiots. hard ass deluxe and effective to the end. yeah, that's what i like.

Sure, those kinds of teachers can be great teachers, yet they still enjoy their job... even if it's just because of the 5 or so kids in the class who are actually worth their time.

my best teachers i had in high school are no longer teachers

whether you're a good teacher or bad, if you don't like it you should get out...fulfill your contract and leave.

    I agree.
My psychology teacher and I used to discuss many things in class instead of holding class.
We were talking about LSD and marijuana one day and the drug dog came into the class.
It scared the shit out of me.
I didn't have anything on me at the time, but I was always getting escorted to the office for different tests to see if I was under the influence.
What can I say, I always smelled like smoke. :cheers2:

But, back on point, that teacher was fantastic.
The best teacher I've ever had the opportunity to meet, and as a matter of fact, I've even smoked with him.

The teachers dont wanna be there .... the kids dont wanna be there ..... what's the point.... ? Scrap the whole public education system and let people teach things, and learn about things, that interest them.

This topic is charged for me. I've only had two good school memories a kid (moved around a lot), both in Brazil:

One of those was in a alternative school (where I learned reading/writing) with a Montessorian background. No grades, etc.

The other school was very traditional and yet I do remember the tight-knit sense of community. Though I didn't do very well.

Education was a troubled experience for me. And for that reason I have no faith in it.

Not the quantitative/punitive method of education, anyway. Nor do I believe things can be teached abstractly.

I had a few of those.

Basically, they had nothing to prove.

There is nothing worse than a teacher with such a fucked up maturity level, they have to compete with students for status and play the "angry mom."

Teachers have a tendency to have a profoundly warped sense of reality anyway. The profession itself attracts those types.

So, to answer the question: at least careerists didn't bother me, and I knew what to expect from them and didn't have to play little relationship games with them.

Yes I really utterly hated the teachers who disliked their jobs.
Not because they disliked their jobs , but because it really showed in the way they failed to teach. They were lazy , got off on power trips and disrespecting the kids.
Their teaching methods were shocking and fucked up many a young career.
To me thats a real crime.

I have a complete lack of respect for then and basically regard them as a disease in society- basically they wanted the long holidays , fairly good pay for shite standard of work and unsackability.

If a teacher hates their job but still puts the effort in , then I dont have a problem with that. But I never saw one who hated it , put in any effort.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! I was going to school to be a high school teacher. I quit though because my heart wasn't in it. Sure I was able to make great lesson plans that would challenge my students....but I hated the thought of having to do that everyday. Not because I'm lazy but because I just don't have the "calling" as my teachers called it.

I was terrified that I would be that teacher that ruins a student's love of learning. Meh

I've been lucky and had some amazing teachers. I loved them and a few of them influenced my life a LOT, they all had very different teaching methods, but the one thing they all had in common is that they all loved their jobs.

i don't really learn from teachers, so they were really never much more than entertainment anyway. thus, it didn't really matter much whether they liked their job, as long as they kept me from being too bored...

personally, i don't believe in the concept of liking one's job. there's plenty of jobs that i can do and not be miserable, but there's nothing i could imagine doing for a living that i would actually enjoy...
