In another thread talking about time travel movies, it was said that it’s possible to slow or stop time.

I thought, that has happened to me several times but I never thought of it as time manipulation before. I've never made it happen but it seems to happen automatically when I need it, like when a car accident is about to happen it seems like I suddenly have an hour to think about it.

I was wondering if that happens to others, how often and if anyone can make it happen on purpose?

PS Please answer the poll, I'm interested in the results. I'd like to see how common this is.
Also you can pick more than one answer.

it's just in your perception. just like time going by faster when you are enjoying yourself. i suspect in the case of a car accident, there is probably some sort of a natural physical response, such as increased adrenaline, that might act as a sort of drug that improves your ability to react

I've always though that myself, that some how the brain speeds up and makes everything seem to slow down. But when it was mentioned in the context of time manipulation it seemed like time slowing down was an equally plausible expaination.

Yep, so is space. Stopping time is as simple as realizing that your memories of the past and hopes for the future do not exist outside of your present conjuring up of such thoughts.
Only right now exists, and it encompasses eternity.

I've pondered that, but I'm not capable of comprehending it yet. maybe sometime in the near future. :D

Once, when I was on acid I thought I stopped time for a minute... but then the clock changed and I realized it was just the acid....
