Nine Inch Nails

You're putting "More Than A Feeling" and "Freebird" on a pedestal? Boston is alright, but still just classic arena-rock; and Lynyrd Skynyrd is just a shitty, racist southern-rock band. Now I am not a huge NIN fan by any means, but I do have most of their (his) catalog on my iPod and have listened to much of it. Compared musically to Lynyrd Skynyrd, NIN blows them out of the water. Trent Reznor does have an immense pool of musical knowledge and talent, which makes the music worth listening to. In terms of industrial-rock, NIN is close to the pinnacle. So why not explore different genres of music? Also, who cares how Reznor was in high school? I bet a majority of the users on hipforums could be considered a "loser" by their high school standards.

Industrial rock pretty much sucks as a genre.

Depache Mode and Pronge have had some interesting industialish stuff though.

Yeah, most Tool fans are complete tools... yet a few are amazing people.

I will not go on a Tool rant, for I truly do hate the band... all I will say is that Maynard should be shot in the face.

I can name a couple of good pop bands, doesn't mean that the entire genre pretty much doesn't suck.

But to humor you:

The Prodigy, Godflesh, Static-X, Mindless Self Indulgence, and Mushroomhead.... of the top of my head....

The Prodigy's is kinda funny, but yet... still not very good.

 

how bout VNV nation, panzer division, KMFDM, icon of coil, laibach, croc shop, factrix and obviously COMBICHRIST

theres so many amazing industrial bands

 

yeah i've always thought Maynard was retarded but so many people get mad when i tell them he's a tool.... anyway... one of my best friends LOVES tool and he writes some of the best music i've ever heard, even though the tool influence shines through a bit sometimes, it's still amazing... and i've heard good things about the band regarding mind-expansion and new-age philosophy.... but i still can't seem to dig the music...

i hated tool for years, until i listened to them on mushrooms. after that, i can listen to them and i actually don't mind, but they're nothing special.

NIN is about 2 steps above god.
