holy crap and the commercials make it seem like there's nothing to it! Glad I'm not on that either. I think I'll just stay way from anti depressants. I only have Panic Disorder anyway so I really don't need them it's just the doctor keeps trying to tell me they might help me with my panic, which I don't see how.

Both of my exes were on anti-depressants for some time...don't really see how it helped either one.

from what I remember about anti-depression meds from when the ex's took them~

1 ex got depressed every Winter (seasonal depression) ok, meds are not going to make winter go away. I think mainly he got depressed because work slowed down in winter, which leads to a BIG reason alot of people get depressed....MONEY.
ok, meds are not seeds for a money tree, meds won't pay bills or put gas in the car or buy food for the family.
If family issues were the reason for their depression...well meds won't make the kids do homework, clean their room, eat their veggies or stop fighting with each other either. Meds won't make your spouse look or act like Brad Pitt either.

I now call 1 anti-depression med that my ex-husband took for awhile, the "zombie pill". I don't remember which med it was, but every night after taking it, he would literally sit in a chair for hours staring off into space totally zoned out...not hearing a thing around him and not talking to anyone. Just sitting there in LaLa land with a shit-ass smirk staring at nothing.
Course some could say it took away his depression....well yeah but who would be depressed when they weren't in reality?

Yes, I'm on the 37.5 mg. About three years ago I was on the 150 mg, then I weaned down a year ago to the 75 mg with little difficulty, and then down to the 37.5 mg a little over 6 months ago but I've been stuck at a standstill ever since. I would have thought with being on such a low dose that missing a few days wouldn't be hard at all, but along with the side affects I suddenly get these crushing waves of anxiety seemingly out of nowhere after a day or two of stopping the Effexor. I'm talking my whole body gets ice cold, I start shaking, and I feel like I'm literally going to go crazy! I don't understand it! But I tell you, it scares me, because I feel like I can barely function when that happens. Which is why my doctor is suggesting he start me on Ativan I think it is? To combat the side affects of going off the Effexor. But then, is that really a wise decision? Take something else, risk getting used to it, have a hard time getting off that too?

    I don't know.

All I know is I feel like I've had more problems than I did before I started taking the darn stuff! If I would have known how hard it was to get off of it, I would have never, ever taken it in the first place!

It didn't help me either... it actually made my panic so bad I couldn't even get up out of bed without having another attack. I couldnt go to the store, drive, or even do dishes. It was horrible! They took me off everything and put me on Ativan, 1mg as needed, up to three in a 24 hour period. I've been doing well on them, I've had the same perscription for a couple of years now and it really works. The doctor I have now though wants me to try Lexapro, I have no idea even what kind of drug it is... I haven't bothered doing the research because I refuse to mess with what works for me. I'm doing fine, so why change it up, ya know?

I was on lexapro. I went through withdrawls when I went off of it but it didn't fuck with me (make me depressed and even more anxious) the way zoloft does.
I also take ativan but I've been on it for about four months and my doctor is currently weaning me off of it. Today is the last day that I can take 3 1 milligram tabs.- tomorrow I'm down to two. But yesterday I only took 2.5 anyways.

I really think the beta blocker I was put on might be helping my anxiety even though i was put on it for other reasons (high blood pressure and high heart rate)...... but it figures.....slow the heart rate down and that's a big portion of panic.

My doctor probably won't prescribe me any more ativan when I'm weaned off cause I told him I was taking too much (and valium) so once I'm weaned off and don't need to take them every day I'll probably buy a few valiums online again to JUST TAKE WHEN I GET EXTREME PANIC cause that is not fun and I'm getting OFF the zoloft cause it makes it worse.
