I am now 15 hours into the fast. To clarify for those that do not know, a water fast means you drink water, but you do not consume food. At this point I feel mostly fine except the stomach feels very empty.

    PS

I also have a slight headache, but I attribute this more to caffine withdrawl than to hunger.

  6. The mental clarity of a water fast is worth it alone.

    Keep us updated :)

    32 hours in now

I had a somewhat sleepless night. I was tired, but kept waking up and only sleeping lightly.

Something must have changed over night because I felt essentially normal when I went to bed and when I woke up I felt strange. It seems as if the inner motivations have all been somewhat dampered. No feelings of hunger as of now.

Yesterday I took a 3 mile walk and swam for awhile and took a cleansing sweat.

You're burning body fat with no food intake.

If you're skinny, the body will start to consume itself.

    Don't go there.

While fasting is a good thing for most people, 5 days is pushing your luck with your health.

    5 day fast ids nothing
after 5 days it gets easier the 1st 4 days of a fast are hardest
5 days though will not be a full cleanse you need 10 or more
watch the color of your tongue
it will turn yellow around day 4 thats the toxins comming to the surface it will go away when the cleanse is complete (warning around day 9 u may have a bit of the shits thats cause u havent shiut in days anbd the last of the crap in your bowls gets flushed iut..it can be slimy and gross)

keep hydrated keep active (not strenius activity but active..i rode my unicycle from new york to washing ton dc both times i did 10-12 day fasts)

when u break the fast do it slow..steamed or overcooked veggies maybe some brown rice easy to digest foods'
    ansd not alot
i made the mistakje of an ethiopian feast the 1st time and couldnt move for 8 hours

good luck and enjoy fasting can be incredible
i know many who have done 30 day or longer fasts.. 10 days though seems to be just sabout the right amount for a good cleanse
again, your coating on your rtonge will tell you when its time to stop

Thank you for the advice kind sir. I would like to carry this on beyond the initial 5 days, but my vacation starts on the 6th day and there will be cookouts and beer all around.

Okay, 40 hours in and I feel like shit. About 2 or 3 pm this afternoon I began to get really irritable and that progressed into extreme rage and hatred. What followed this evening was extreme depression and scary illogical thoughts of wanting to basicly harm myself. I am exhausted and I am going to sleep. I went by my parents house and they ordered a bunch of pizza trying to get me to crack. I left before it got there.

I ended the fast at 56 hours this morning due to not having the energry required to do my job. I consumed an organic peanut bar and a bolthouse farms protein drink. I do not recommend engaging in this fasting activity while working full time.

i know many people who have done 30-40 day fasts

the 10 and 12 day fasts i diid was while riding my unicycle from new york to washington dc
    severalk hundred miles
you were at the hardest point when you quire
making it 1 more day would have gotten you over the hump and into the easy part
after day 4 the hunger goes away

howevcer that anger and wanting to do harm is not good, it shows a chemical imballance thAt may mean fasting is not good

some forms of depression can be amild undiagnosed food alergy the toxins released from fat scvells could trigger the feelings u described..they are not normal to fasts..
    have u suffered depredssion?

are you vegatarian? if not, id serously concider it..if you are, id get tested for food alergies

medication and drug use history can also cause that, your detoxing and your body/mind chemnistru can change as toxins are released from fat to blood eventualy to be flushed out

if u continued meds while fasting,m thats noyt good..if u disdcontinued psych meds toi fast..also not good..to fast u should detox from meds 1st then fast to complete the detpox..and in the case of most meds u should be sure u get medical afdvice to be \suyree its safe to detox

pm me if u weant..i thionk u may have more going on then your aware oi

however if none of that fits then just going 1 more day would have made all the difference
the 4th day being the hardest by far to get through

i attempted a 15 day fast, day 4 being new years. i was tripping on day 4, took 1 sip of beer and puked foam..i imediately ran home and ate a whole box of cookies (yea i know not good)
point is while fasting u gotta be careful what u expose yourself to, and you gotta get past that 4th day

people i know who have gone 30-40 days have tons of energy, no ill health climb mountains at a near run pace carying 80 pound packs...with lil or no hunger at all

i do not recomend going beyond 12-25 days though without getting medical clearance 1st and being prepared and knowing what to expect..
but 10-15 days is not hard at all once you get past the 1st 4 days

I wish I had the motivation and will power for a fast like that. I really need it. My body and mind need a good detox and flush out.

When it becomes an ego trip to see how long you can make it, instead of a detox, you've crossed the line in my book.

Even yoga frowns on extended fasting.

I've actually been considering a three-day water fast.
    Goals:
    -detox
    -general health
    -mental clarity

    you know, the usual.
Should I start a new thread to log progress?
