so according to mayans, prophets, and things like alien crop circles 2012 marks the beginning to a new era. now i don't know if the world is gonna end or what not, but i do believe this idea of a higher conscious being obtained. basically like a download of software to your brain. are there any others who follow this theory that have there own theories to what will happen. maybe we will be able to channel energies, gather information from anywhere in our mind, smarter and less forgetful, maybe we will easily be able to induce trances on ourself to gain cosmic knowledge. has this shift all ready happend to people who have worked for it, such as shamins, or is this gonna be a whole new thing to everyone?
Well, let's look at it for what it is. There is no doubt that we as a species are evolving towards a higher mentality. No matter how ugly our society can get, one thing that is obvious I think, is that Love always wins. Our techonology is a reflection of our minds creative capabilities. First, we adopted the ability to perceive more than the inital 3 shades of colour. Then we had an apprectiation for scent of fragrance, rather than just scent as it is. Next we had morality, music evolved, art evolved, science evolved, etc. A human being grows, they see colour, then they develop fragrence, part of the reason they dont acknowledge the fact that they need to be potty trained until about 3 years old. Then they devolop a sense of morality before becoming a teen, and finally they taste the true potential of sound through music and art through emotion. Well, then we have people like Krsna, Buddha, Jesus, Mohammad, etc. that, though they differ in matters of interpreted intention through teaching, they all, around the age of 30, attained a certain *evolved* consciousness which appears to be the end of the road for human evolution. It embraced the idea that we are all One and that the mind and in fact reality, are illusions. So, we have one person attain this state, then 2, then 4, and so on and so on until you have musicisans that touch your heart and soul, writers who are drunk on their devotion to God, and eventually we are all shifting closer to that evolved state. the doomsdayers have a lot of theories about it many of which I find entertaining, and i'd be lying if I said that some didn't correspond to certain acid visions of mine about something that is on its way. looking at what's going on in the world right now, it seems like there are exponential growth patterns of both: difficult political/economic circumstance, and greatness of the heart and souls of people everywhere. it's like things are getting worse around us, but we are growing better as people. it's been said that the new frontier is the mind. it feels to me that energy is being shifted from gross convenience to hearts and minds. I feel as if the cleaner we get our bodies and minds, the easier it will be for us to graft into the new collective-consciousness state. if we are links in a chain of celestial knowledge, then we need to look at ourselves as vessels that are more prepared the emptier they get. by empty I mean free from mental clutter, trivial matters, ego games. lucidity and love come to me accompanied with feelings of a pure and beautiful emptiness inside me, like i'd been scrubbed through by divine energy. I think the more we focus on cleaning our inward vessels, the more tuned in we are to the new energy frequencies that are coming and will come. this involves everything: diet, emotion, attitude, ethics...it all adds up to our overall constitution and helps fine tune our energy receptors. to the op: you should look up something from quantum physics called torsion energy. very interesting; apparently there is a spherical field of this energy surrounding the galaxy, and is denser toward the center of the galaxy, and some are saying that our solar system is approaching denser torsion fields and that's accounting for the surge in intelligent kids, etc.
Have you read anything by Sri Yukteswar, burnabowl? He claims that our Sun is actually in a dance with a duel star, and that during this revolution, we move in and out of the Yuga's in progression, which explains our mental evolution. That in Kali Yuga we are in what we understand to be a dark age, and so on for 4 complete movements, the last of which has full comprehension of God for all beings, complete harmony and oneness etc etc. But, we move right back and have to start over agian. Now this would also entail a relative belief in reincarnation for it to even matter, because it has to do with soul progression more than anything else. But I do have to say, that he accuratley predicted the movement into the electronic and atomic stages, as far as relative time goes. Anyway Im not one to get into doomsday or prophetic visions of the future, because all of this is mental masturbation if you ask me. Nobody really knows, and if we are to be concerned with living in the now, which in one point of view is much less than a microsecond occuring constantly too fast for us to even perceive, and in another point of view the totality of eternity, than what comes will come and it's simply a matter of, as you said burnabowl, cleansing ourselves of accumulated mental baggage. This body is a loan from God, better to return it swept clean at the entrance and have the candles on the altar of your soul lit, just as it was when it was given to you, rather than waste the precious gift of life
no I haven't read yukteswar, but it sounds highly intriguing and from what you said sounds consistent with many impressions i've received. I agree there is some mental masturbation to an extent, whether it's to gain perspective and comfort or just entertainment, idk. I tend not to entertain random random thoughts that come from me, but I do digest items that I feel come to me persistently. I think the bottom line is that our mental frequencies will attract like-patterns, and the more we look at the future with good will and joy, the more likely that's what we'll receive.

Yukteswar is the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda, he wrote a book in the 1800's called "The Holy Science", and I must say, coming down after a good acid trip and reading that book (for the 10th time lol) was quite an experience. The Yuga bit is interesting but the mind blowing part is his discription of reality in 7 stages, from our reality, to the subatomic reality, to Sat (Truth - God). I started a thread here months ago detailing it, I dont know if you remember, I think it was called The Nature Of Reality? I forget though. But yea good stuff right there. And as a Hindu friend of mine pointed out elsewhere on the forums, he said "Who are we to judge Yukteswar (concerning his predictions)? Yet then again, who are we not to?"
