a doctor 2 perscribe somthing without sounding like a drug freind for example i want 2 get my psychiatrist 2 perscribe me a benzo for my chronic anxiety i am not tying 2 get drugs 2 abuse i believe xanax or valuim will help me relax and not have panic attacks when i get pissed
Be smart about the entire thing, and say how you have researched all medications in the class extensively, and feel 'x' is best for you... Good luck
Just ask the doctor if he or she thinks there is any medication that might help with your chronic anxiety. If your lucky, the suggestion will be one of the two that you want. If not, you can then start with the whole, 'I did some research' tactic.
just ask them what they think u should take for chronic anxiety. you'll most likely get somethin. who knows if itll be xanax of valium but as long as it gets the anxiet gone ur golden.
after being on many different thing i asked my psych to put me on seroquel and welbutrin, he did with no hesitation, i couldnt wake up on the seroquel for a year and after a year i got the balls to just flat out ask him for sonota 30mg a night, i told him i tried it and it worked and i woke up the next morning, he then wrote the prescription for me, after 4 days it stopped working and at my next appointment im gonna ask for triazolam for my insomnia, im gonna say that its a "hypnotic" benzo not an anti anxiety one and has a very short half life which is exactly what im looking for, i dont know if he will do it but its worth a shot, and this is my psychiatrist who knows my day to day drug abuse, if ur doctor doesnt know u do drugs if u do than he should have no problem prescribing it for you. your paying them...you have to remember that, and if they look at you like a drug addict find a new doctor, benzos do legitamitley help millions of people with anxiety, which means doctors right millions of scripts for benzo's...every month.
clonazepam...no way neone is gonna pay for the name brand. But if you got the loot i have heard that klonopin is one of the cases where the brand is a lot better than the generic...
spens93, my shrink gave me adderall (never asked) this is 15 years ago anyway then i tell him how BITCHy i have become, he writes script for xanax. (120) 1mg per month w/ little saying "take as needed" well i found more ways for "need" than i ever thought. im only telling you this because yes they can be kick ass, and calm the nerves. it is a pill that if 1 is good 3 4 5 oh 8 can be so much better. it creeps on you. anyway, our shrinks are paid to write, they are the drug dealers . w/ them and the pharmacutical companies they may be un-happy you dont ask, being they have ads everywhere ( some even come w/ coupons for a free trial) ..oh xanax can cause blackouts so beware... )
well i didnt get anything i asked in the least drug seeking way and he said "based on your activities smoking weed and drinking he thinks i will abuse it
Yeah sadly if he knows you smoke weed he will look at you diffrent and is unlikely to give anything you might be wanting. I would suggest going to a new doctor, and do not mention you smoke weed. Your parents have no legal right to know what goes on with your doctor, tell them you do not want them to talk to your doctor. I went to one doctor and did not say I smoked weed or anything, just talked and she offerd me perscriptions after one vist. I mentioned to another doctor I smoke weed and that is ALL she would talk to me about for weeks, and she wouldn't do shit for me. Better to keep it quite.
If you're seeking drugs, why on earth would you ask for them in 'the least drug seeking way'? That's just suspicious, man. Say, 'I need something to help me with....' and if you're honest, the doctor will help you. Be willing to try different things. Also, in America, Xanax is sometimes only prescribed for those of drinking age, just a pattern I've noticed.
If you want valium or diazepam just tell the doc you have been having muscle spasms in your calf muscle ever since falling while jogging a few days ago. Muscle spasms are pretty much cured by this drug.
If you're under a certain age, look like a drug seeker, or fall into any category other than "seriously stressed, overworked schmuck over 45", you will probably be started on some SHIT like hydroxyzine or BuSpar, both of which are ineffective and have lots of side effects for a lot of people. When talking about your anxiety condition, make sure to mention that you've tried these two, whether or not you really have. Say they didn't work and made you too tired to function (especially the hydroxyzine). Also throw in that you've tried various relaxation techniques and exercise frequently, because they'll wanna suggest that first. I wouldn't advise "asking" for any particular medication, or saying the word "anxiety", as these can be red flags for drug seeking behavior whether that's what you're doing or not. Just say you feel jittery, nervous, scared, and uptight all the time and it's preventing you from doing X, Y, and Z. If there's nothing for you to worry about, you create things in your mind or just feel generally nervous. That should get it. (Say NOTHING about being depressed, having OCD, hallucinations, or anything other than being "nervous", or they'll try an anti-depressant for sure.)
OP you probably don't need it anyway. Benzo withdrawal's are worse than heroin. Except for very extreme cases (esp BP/Schiz/Awful PTSD), benzos are by no means a long term treatment option. If you were ever able to secure a RX you'd get 1-3 months tops, and that goes for most people getting benzos these days. Besides, now there are plenty of other options doctors give people to treat their anxiety without any abuse potential. highly doubt that, few doctors will give diazepam as a first choice for your "calf spasms". ibuprofen or at best some cyclobenzaprine would be given.
I'd bet you'll probably get Klonopin as well. It's a long lasting benzo and is most doctor's choice to control chronic anxiety. I think most doctors are hesitant to do things like Xanax long term.
