So I had just gotten in from work and i went to check on my dog and I realized she had a tick, so we brought her in the house to get it off of her. This took awhile, she wouldn't keep still, and that mother fucker would not let go.

Well, we finally got it off, and I decided to wash my work clothes since I'd done all that while wearing them. My phone was in my vest pocket. About ten minutes after I put the clothes in the washer, I started looking for my phone, and then it hit me, I KNEW exactly where it was. So I ran downstairs and turned the washer off and started digging in the water. And there it was!
Oh my God. Soaked and soapy.

I can't believe I washed it. Two years I've had it and it was in almost perfect condition. I spent almost an hour blow-drying the buttons and all the little crevices and all the computer parts in the battery slot. it still won't come on, I sure hope it will tomorrow. If not, I hope to God at least my sim card is intact. I don't know any of my phone numbers, They're all in my phone.

:( I'm so sad. I was going to get a new one anyway, but not for a month or so. Now I'll probably have to get one this paycheck. Shit shit shit.

One of my neighbours did that once... it was not much fun for her either... she had to work a little more and harder to get herself a new one.

Let it dry for at least a few days before you try it again, and maybe take it into wherever you got it and see if they can test a new battery on it. You might've gotten lucky and just fried the battery.

iirc, is best to let it just air dry, the heat from the blow dryer may exacerbate the problem.... heres hopin it still works

one of my bfs famlyi friends once dropped his cell in a giant bucket of oil... they heard it ringing from inside the barrel. still worked for like 3 days after til it sputtered out

I feel your pain. My phone got H2O damage...I don't know how but uh it did on Monday.

Now I'm screwed up the a** because I cant find the old phone to send back to the insurance. I wouldn't be so upset if they weren't going to charge me up to $300 for it! ugh!

And I lost all my contacts. It's been nearly a week and I'm stillll unhappy bout this.

I dropped my phone in the toilet once. I washed the poop off it the best I could, and let it air dry for a few days, and it still works fine.

I'm kinda grossed out when I hold it to my ear though.

dont worry hun just take out the battery and lay your phone on a towel or table and let it dry overnight. DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON after a couple minutes of drying it will screw up the phone. I have had something like this happen a few times in the two years i have had my phone. first it was my sons chew toy then it was hi spool toy at one point. then when i had my second son he decided that eachtime he got his hand on my phone it didnt belong in the spot i had it belonged in the toilet. after all thos eicidents my phone works perfectly. except the power button doesnt work that well but it doesnt matter. if your phone wont turn on see if you can find a cell phone repair shop near by i know with my phone company i just go to the repair place pay 15 dollars and whatever is broken gets fixed.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I didn't turn it on for about an hour, and I didn't have the blow dryer on hot. It came on today, but every so often the screen will flicker, then go completely clouded up. I think it'll be ok with some more time, but I'm still going to get another one.

One of my co-workers told me hers fell out of her pocket and into the toilet when she went to pull her pants up. She did not have the good fortune of flushing first. :p

in my experience, water damage can be a real bitch. I had the exact same experience as booshnoogs, only with an mp3 player. I also dipped a camera once, just for a split second, when I slipped in a river.

what's happened to me was I'd air dry the item, for at least 6 hours in the warm sun, then it'd start working after a day or so. my mp3 player lasted about two months, but my camera just got worse and worse and stopped working no more than three weeks later.
