i know the bottle says to dilute in a bucket of water. but what if you cut the doses of water and soap, and put it into a squirt bottle to use in the shower. would it still work out just as well? i don't see why it shouldnt work... but im just making sure there isnt some special reason that it must be done in a bucket or a sink. I have the 1 in 18 hemp pepperment soap, there isnt a bronners shampoo is there?
I just use a little in an old shampoo bottle. I like the bonners bar too, that u can just lather up in your hands.
yeah i have it in a spray bottle i may transfer it to an old shampoo bottle when i have the chance. ive got a dread hq bottle, but its still quite full because i really dont like it. im thinking of going to pick up a bar next time i run to whole foods.
i preffer thge luiquid i usualy just have 2 bronners bottles 1 undiluted 1 i fdilute in every time i shower just squirt in a lil bit and add water i like to make it as weak (diluted) as possible and still get a lil lather
hmm. mind doesnt really lather for some reason... its just kinda there. oh well. is there a reason you perfer liquid over bar soaring eagle?
it doesnt have to lather to work i just diluted mine super super thin in a squeeze bottle and kept it in my shower. till i ran out and then i used random bars, and now im seeing how my hair reacts to washing with just water.
i just put a tiny bit (of the liquid) in a fairly large cup then i let the shower blast water into it. it lathers up and gets dilluted. then i just pour the cup on my head and scrub...
pretty interesting to see all the ways people use their bronners. oh well i guess ill just be sticking to my squirt bottle. works good enough for me. who loves how clean you feel when you rub the peppermint on your body. feels like rebirth. :hurray:
i love the peppermint smell afterwards... seriously i smell like a candy cane for days... its like christmas!
sure are the luiquids able to be used for 1000 difgferent uses the bar...1 the luiquid for the price lasts much longer especialy if u dilute it you can use it for laundry dishes floors hair n body lots and lots of things also ..where i get it only sells tyhe luiquid (and some places like coops give discounts if u just re use the bottles and refill from a bulk thing they got) also the bars gotta have sokmething extra added to make them bar form..something u dont need
When I first started using Bronners, I didn't know you were supposed to dilute it! Once I actually read it and started diluting it, I just put some in my hand and mixed it with water in my hand. You really don't have to use too much and I didn't have to get a lot of lather for it to work either.
i felt the same way about my dreadhead shampoo so i mixed some of my bronners with it so it doesn't go to waste. it's actually not bad shampoo, but now it smells good too between shampooing with the dreadhead/bronners combination i just squirt diluted bronners using a spray bottle, so i'd recommend using a spray bottle it's working for me.
Yeah im thinking i might squirt some of it into my dreadhead bottle now that you mention it. ill just try that out. and yes soaring eagle i agree that the liquid is much more economical due to the method of dilution and the many uses. thats great that they give discounts for reusing bottles.. i highly doubt whole foods does that.. oh well. maybe ill try some of that peppermint in the washing machine... keep my clothes smelling minty fresh.
yeah i beleive it would be a reaction with lye (draino) and olive oil that hardens up the soap. Not sure if bronners uses a different method though... but that is for standard natural soaps.
the only difference between bar and liquid Bronners is that the bar uses sodium hydroxide to turn the oils into soap, the liquid uses potassium hydroxide. I've made lots of soap and thats the only difference between liquid and solid versions. The final product has no trace of the sodium or potassium hydroxides either. Robin :waves: it's my first post!
i love dr. bronners... love love love it i have the huge bottle, and i take a mug with me into the shower. i squirt one mild squirt into the cup and then put it under the water so it foams and put it on my hair. it feels SO slick and good and i rub it in really well... and then rinse it out. i like it because i can use it to wash my face too but i dilute it a LOT more since it dries skin out. i also use it to bathe my dog because it doesn't have piles of chemicals like pet shampoos, and then she smells like lavender. lather! rinse! repeat! ok!
yeah the sodium hydroxide is the lye i beleive. so theres our answer. and welcome to the forums robin arty: nope not at all. not if you dilute the bronners, it actually works very well. but i seem to like it a little better in my old shampoo bottle.
lol i ended up doing that. but also ended up pouring it all out because i didnt like it. for some reason that damned dreadhead shampoo seems to make my hair soo lose and.. un-knotty. so i dumped it all out. even thought the bottle was only about 1/8 full of the shampoo, with just a squirt of bronners in it and then filled to the top with water. oh well. oh hail bronners.
hmm that's interesting. it's neat to see how different peoples' hair can be. for me, my hair becomes a lot more loose if i use plain water than it does when i use the dreadhead/bronners combo. but maybe it's a coincidence. i guess i'll see when i run out (since i'm sure as hell not buying any more dreadhead shampoo
