Is there a website (preferably British or European) that lists all the veggie friendly sweets and chocolates that are out there?

I've noticed that a lot of them have the (V) symbol on the wrappers but I don't like having to read labels everytime I get the munchies :)

hmm i'm not sure..but around here we have a "Healthy Life" store and inside are these vegan carob chocolate covered peanuts that i've become addicted to. Because my whole life i have been stuck on junk food. It is hard to find milk-free chocolates though. If i find anything i'll help you out ;)

Pretty much all chocolate bars are fine. When it comes to sweets, it's usually chewy or hard sweets that can be the problem - they use gelatin as a main ingredient. Polo's used to but they don't anymore. I've been reading food labels for years  (they're just sooooo interesting!) so I can spot any enemy ingredient quickly, but you get used to the kind of products that you do or don't need to check. Watch out for gateaux and other cakes, animal fat can crop up easily in those.

Sometimes veggie products don't have the V symbol and this is because the origin of some of the ingredients isn't known, eg if something has a French cheese in. I guess it depends how strict with yourself you want to be. Because of course, not all alcohol is veggie friendly either! Although, I noticed recently that one supermarket has started to label all the wines which is pretty fab!

Anyway Paul, it's wicked to see that you've remained so committed to the veggie diet. Congrats! :)

    Thank you ~ 2 months now :)

As for the V symbol I've noticed that some stuff like mars bars or galaxy haven't got the V symbol but turkish delight and double deckers have ... It's stuff like this I'm unsure of. So it doesn't meanit isn't vegiie if it hasn't got the symbol?

I tend to err on the side of caution with those. Might be gelatin lurking in them (especially the turkish delight)

So yeah, two months, wow that's great to hear. Keep up the good work.

No, not necessarily. I think some companies just don't deem it important or relavant. I didn't even know turkish delight had a v sign!!! Mars & DD are made by Mars aren't they? Whereas the other 2 are Fry's so it's different company policy. You'll just have to perfect your ingredient scanning technique!!! :)
