Does anyone else think its a crock of shit that the same agency who controls our food controls the pharmaceutical industry? They know exactly what additives they are putting into our food and what diseases it will cause. Then, they get to make more money by pushing drugs on us to "cure" the illnesses they are responsible for. Its a vicious cycle. am i "allowed" to use what society has dubbed as profanity?
buy locally. Grow and/or prepare your own food. Know your sources. Avoid Walmart if you can. Fast food too. I don't think its so much though that they're infecting our food wth disease, but just they have the knowledge and ability to make healthy, good quality good. Instead they force people to rely on fattening, less than healthy food which has questionable sources and ingredients, and in turn they make money off things like vitamins and antibiotics. Perhaps they're infecting our food.... perhaps. And as far as I can tell by fellow users' language, you can curse, just not a lot of not towards anyone as an insult. Just be relatively respectful and polite, no one minds a little cursing. (;
The Food and Drug Administration is a government agency. They do not make any money. They do not put anything in food, and they do not "push drugs" on anyone. Food producers and pharmaceutical companies do all of that; the FDA just regulates them.

i should have worded my staement better. while the fda has absolutely nothing to do with the production of food and drugs, as nodirectionhome stated they do control what hits the market and do a horrible job of it. i have trouble believing there isnt some sort of conspiracy (for lack of a better word). so the fda doesnt make any money from the food and drugs sold but the various political and government agencies are greatly supported by donations rom these industries.
you didnt bother looking at my links did you? before the end of there careers the people from the FDA,the USDA,the EPA, etc. make OODLES of money from the chemical companies as well as the drug manufacturers and the biotech industry.. hell they all work for hem at one time or another.. they are but puppets for the corporations..
The goverment is like a non profit agency, they just dont have to show profits but the can collect mountains of dontations, contributions, offer tax incentives and breaks ect. They can allow money to be sent to a general politcal party fund that later a party person can "borrow" from and never repay. If a person believes the FDA or any goverment agency is working for the poeples health, intrest and welfare your seriously misguided. FDA, instead of forcing clean butcher practices as they once did they now allow sloppy un healthy practices but to fix it they use radiation on our meat to kill the bacteria. Adding to the cost we pay, loosing nutrients and making yet another future possible problem.

The FDA does a lot of good, but are still prone to buying into Pharmaceutical companies' lobbying, like any other government agency. The FDA does extensive testing of all drugs, and it's actually extremely difficult to pass FDA standards. Without the FDA, Vioxx and other medicines which have harmed individuals would be far more common. Without the FDA, it would be impossible for individuals harmed by these medications to file lawsuits and win.
The FDA is not so bad.The problem is they had so many budget and staff cuts courtesy of you know who,,,,, Bush/Cheney.Also Big Pharma 'now' is n bed with the FDA.This was never true years ago. To clarify. I think the FDA,years ago was ok.NOW I have to agree with "hippiehillbilly".One major example:Its absolutely disgusting how the drug companies and the fda work "together".The FDA now gets "paid by the drug companies" to monitor drug company commercials.Its beyond unacceptable,it's downright criminal.As far as Aspartame that is one of a few things that should have been banned along time ago.
