Ive been reading some things here, but I dont want full dreads. The thing is one time I saw a guy with only like 3 dreads sparced over the back of his head, and though it was cool, so I want only one dread on the back of my head, but I want my other hair to be intact. I have normal lenght of curly hair (not to short, not long) and its a little dry and hurt, so its why im going to cut it today, but I though it would be a good idea to not cut a bit of hair in the back of my head and let it gro a little a more, so I can have it locked, the thing is im new to all these things and I would like some recommendations, I dont wat it to be to thick though. Thanks
well if you just want one dread its pretty tough to do... my girlfriend had only a few dreads for a while and kept the rest of her hair normal and it was a huge pain. she did it for several months... but dreads like to suck in other hairs so if you arent careful your dread will just keep growing thicker. i cant really understand if you want your dread to be longer than the rest of your hair or what... but if thats the case i would say section off the dread, backcomb it, and cut the rest. obviously if you only want one or two dreads then backcombing is the way to go. good luck! aj
yeah mate, thats the thing im going for, I want to be the dread longer than my normal hair, and since I have curly hair, I think it would look pretty good, what Im worried about is that it may be look weird to have one part of my hair longer. I guess I should not straighten that little long part right?
well i dont think it'll look too weird... it will look different than the rest of your hair bc it'll be a dread. go for it man and then post some pics. whats the worst that could happen? if you dont like the backcombed dread you can comb it out. probably a month later you could comb it out.
Ok, Ive decided that im cutting my hair tomorrow, and leave some part of it in the back of my hair long, I think Im cutting it mainly because since I have curly hair, its hard to make it grow long, I mean, sometimes I would get a fro, but not the fro that its all up there you know, the type that its kinds long but with a fro shape, so I think if I leave that part long and all my other hair short it would be easier to grow out. Anyways, when its longer, Im thinking about going to a salon to have someone to make it for me, but Ive been hearing mixed opinions about waxing, I guess I would use the back comb method though. I shouldnt straighten the long part while all my other hair is short right? I was thinking about doing it, so I doesnt looks to weird, but maybe that will damage it. Sorry for all the questions, im just new to this and I would like to get some recommedantions, and my first language isnt englis, in case you wonder why Im not very clear about some things Also, thanks ajklnr for the answers
no dont straighten it the curly hair will dread faster in fact screw salons just get a bead that will fit snugly on the bit of hair u want to dread rake a loop of thread through the hole in the bead\ wet the tip of the hair so it holds together stick it through the thread loop and use the thread to pull the hair throiugh the bead hold the hair and force the bead upwards till it sticks leave it be for a month or 3 and it will dread
in fact do that before u cut rhe rest so you can be sure u get the right amount of hair to fit the bead u want the bead to stick as loose to the end as you can
