it looked a lot like mine, too. ahahhaaha. i was the one hangin' with kids who changed their names to "starr" and "true" and wore goth gear, got married in "witch ceremonies" and showed me their "pain threshold." otherwise very nice people. we had loads of fun driving to summer school. they had shaved ices and the soundtrack to The Little Mermaid. but not when other people were around. then it was all bauhaus, peter murphy and such.
i didn't care back then, either. everyone seemed to salivate over the sordidness of someone they'd never heard of or made fun of dying tragically. suddenly girls are crying and making little memorials and bullshit like that. faking concern, like most people do, is far more offensive to me than being honest about not giving a shit about the death of one kid they never heard of before.
I mostly hung out with dopped out drug addicts in high school. Often times, these were the most honest people around. I guess I still hang out with dropped out drug addicts.
Agreed, but the individual is dead in this instance and this discussion is a reflection on that. But again, even an argument on how to help the individual would be very complex as there are a huge number of issues involved and everyone is responsible somehow.
Seriously? This town has an incredibly over-rated scene. It's full of assholes who never left their high school mentality, constantly jerking themselves off to prove how cool they are to everyone else. Makes me sick. It's one of the reasons I haven't pursued any performance opportunities. I don't want to become part of the scene. That and stage fright.
I think that all of you people who are taking this way too seriously are just too damn old. I don't mean this in a bad way either, hell... even I was a little older than the emo kids. Emo kids are just funny. They make themselves out to be targets, listen to shitty music, and so on. No one really wants emo kids to die... at least not more than they want any other person to die. They're just a somewhat funny stereotype... When people say that they want the emo kid to die, or don't care if they die, or blah blah blah, they're just playing off on the emo attitude of not caring about life and wanting to die... And so on. Yet, it's an overused joke, and the way it was phrased in this thread sucks even more...
In all my years of playing I think I have only played with one band from Indiana, TV Ghost from Lafayette, they are all between 16 and 21 and they are awesome
There are poser hipster scum everywhere... yet I've met some of the most genuine and honest people around the metal/ drone/ ambient scene here (Little Rock, which is like... 20 minutes away from where I live... but...ehh... you get the point). But yeah, fuck the whole indie scene. It should be left to older folk, most 20 something year olds are complete faggots (in every sense of the world).
Call it insensitive, but I'm sick of hearing people whine about killing themselves and the world sucking and just dragging everybody down while they continue to stay alive. Like their only purpose in life is to bring someone down. What a bummer!
There are like a million bands here, literally Indie shows are boring, thats why I prefer weird punk, trashy rock and roll and more creative stuff
That thought did cross my mind. Technically, its a legitimate choice for someone to commit suicide and maybe nobody can help them. But clearly, emo kids are stupid and and no choice they make is legitimate.
