ways to sanitize rye berries ??

    Hey again everyone i was wondering if i could sanitize my rye berries in the microwave (or something else) insted of a pressure cooker it would be much easer i would assume....... well anyone know if this is possiable, and how it should be done thanks jimbo

    It won't work. There are microbes that will survive anything except pressure cooking/autoclaving in whole grains. You are looking to sterilize, not sanitize the substrate, which means all microbes must be killed.

    Really, if you're going to do it right, invest in a PC, otherwise, you're gonna waste time and spores. You can go on ebay and get an all american pressure cooker(the best) for about 100-125 used. This seems steap until you realize you can put in right back on ebay when you're finished and recoup everything except the shipping.

    As far as I know, the only tek not requiring a PC is the PF-tek with rice flour and vermiculite.

    I looked for ways to avoid getting a pressure cooker, but its not possible, apparently.

    Pressure cookers are less than $50. Get your butt to WalMart, and stop cutting corners. Growing shrooms is not a cutting corners type of endeavour.

    alrighty... i got one but i thought it might be faster to do it another way, no biggie i guess i'll get to work then laterzz and thanks again
