I was wondering how likely it is that someone could succeed at hiding a new tongue piercing. You would have to hide the sight of it and prevent the swelling of the tongue from severely altering your voice.
Well Idk, because I don't have a tongue piercing but you could possibly suck on ice cubes. The coldness will help the swelling. You could also ask your piercing parlour, they'd know.
It will probably noticeably change you speech for a few days until the swelling goes down and you adjust to talking with it. How likely depends on who you're hiding it from. If you only have to hide it from someone once it a while, the chances are good. If its from someone you see and talk to regularily, the chances are bad. That doesn't help much, does it? LOL Anyway, you just need to evaluate who and why you're hiding it, and the consequences of being found out. Cheers
Not needing to hide it from many, mainly just the parents until I decide the time is right. I don't really care if they find out at work, but I would not make a point to show it off. I am mainly concerned about the swelling of the tongue. I have to talk on the phone a fair amount with customers and don't want to sound like an idiot. I have a vacation all next week and I was thinking this may be a good time for it.
Get it on vacation. That will give it some time to heal so by the time you are off vacation, your voice will be a lot better. I have several friends who hid their tongue piercings from their parents for years. Also know a few who were discovered after a few days. I would hate for you to get kicked out of your house or something but the choice is yours.
