I have pretty new dreads, but I was wondering if the small ones will get bigger over time.

It's because I saw someone at my school with itty bitty dreads and I shrieked inside, I don't want them to be really small(thin)

Yes, they get bigger with time. They shrink, and the hair that normally falls out gets caught up in the dreads...making them fatter.

my dreads definitly got fatter and shorter
i eventually got nits in them and tried so hard using all the shampoos to get them out and i think this also made them heaps chunky and shorter. but in a good way
i had to cut them off. couldnt stand the bugs anymore. i had them for 1 and half years. my hair was down to boob length when i first dreaded and ended up nicely chunky just past shoulders. shrunk about 6 inches, though i did trim the ends once :)
