Couple questions about shrooming...

i live in western PA im going shroom hunting tomorrow my house is surrounded by cow fields
ive been told that any mushroom growing directly on the cow pattie is safe to eat...so please correct me if im wrong so i dont kill myself 2morrow
its been raining all week and is supposed to be 90 degrees 2morrow so i figured itd be a good time to look
any tips or pointers and is there anything i need to look out for
basically what im asking if is somebody could tell me the need to knows about finding shrooms on cow patties...what to look for and what to stay away from...

The information about any mushroom growing directly on cow pattie being safe to eat is not true. If your going to pick mushrooms id advise you read up a hell of alot on them and also get some friends who know what they are doing. Picking mushrooms can be a very dangerous thing to do if you have no prior knowledge and you will most likely pick the wrong ones and die.

 

Definitely don't just start eating mushrooms because they grow on cow shit. You can die, or get so sick that you wish you did (and another little tip - most of the time, when you get symptoms of mushroom poisoning, it's too late to do anything about it.)

You need to get a good field guide and learn to ID every mushroom that might grow in your area. It may sound ridiculous, since you're only looking for a few types, but it might be the difference in eating a psychoactive mushroom and a poisonous one.

nah man dont pick the mushroom you have to eat the shit also, the mushrooms wont work unless you eat the pattie too,.

 

Buy a field guide on mushrooms from your local bookstore. Analyze and classify the mushrooms you find. Do not eat anything you are unsure. The guys over at the shroomery will be able to answer any questions you may have pertaining to the mushrooms you pick.
