Really, are there enough good bands, barring the ones that caused all the trouble in 1999, to make it worth it?

I could think of some good bands.
And some of the bands from back then are still around. Who knows.
I would go in a heart beat if they do have woodstock 09.

As long as they don't have shit like Limp Bizkit and Metalica.

They should get Beck, maybe the Rolling Stones (?) Maybe Paul McCartney, The Other Half, any thing with Les Claypool, Neal Young, Bob Dylan, .....

Now my gears are turning. If there was ever a time for another woodstock it would be in 09, a lot of similarities can be seen between now and the 60's.
An unpopular war with no end in sight, social unrest and turmoil, a cock sucker for president. It seems everything is in for another big change, and what better way to bring it on then the worlds original kick ass festival......

Who else would be good to get for Woodstock 09.......

woodstock is a completely different fest now than what it used to be in 69'....it will never be the same. You guys should think about going to a different fest that is on EVERY summer. Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Rothbury are the ones you guys would probably be most comfortable at, given you want to see Dylan, McCartney, and all the mainstream acts, and all the 70's stuff. Its all about personal music tastes, but there are SO many festivals nowadays...Woodstock would be a very poor option in my opinion. I would go with Rothbury, it seems to have the diverse lineup everyone can relate to, and Bonnaroo is just too big. too many people. Plus Rothbury has a lineup that will open you up to a lot of new genres of music...let alone bands. Lets just hope Rothbury doesnt turn into Bonnaroo (Its GOING to happen given all the success it looks like they are going to have with year one....which is why this first Rothbury will be a one of a kind experince if your going...almost like the first Bonnaroo!)

In the words of Garth Algar from Waynes World "Live in the Now!"....the 60's and 70's are over :) Woodstock was what they had back then, it wont be anything like it was...ever. if you want to go to a kick ass fest, there are dozens around the country that will literally change your life...no matter what kind of music you like.

    Right on man.
I have been to both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and both were great times.
For me woodstock would be more about the history of the fest.
I know those times are over, and i do live in the now, but to be able to say "yeah, I was at Woodstock 09" would be a great thing to brag about.
Unless it turned out like 99.
    That would suck.

And I mean, come on, it's WOODSTOCK man.
To be there and think that 40 years ago Hendrix and Joplin and the Airplane and so many other great bands and like minded people gathered here for three days of good times and burned themselves into history and legend, well my amigo, that would be the best day of all days for me....

Besides, it's only every 10 years or so. You could alwase miss out on Bonnaroo and just go next year, but not Woodstock.
10 years is a long time and a lot could happen.....
I think it would be worth it......
    I know it would.

I'm still skeptical about it. It will turn into some MTV sponsered event that will be overcharged and full of emo bands. There are only a few modern bands that could play woodstock. The White Stripes, Black Mountain, My Morning Jacket, etc. I dunno. If it was done without major corporate sponsership, and it was done without death metal and the darker stuff, maybe it could be done. But you know it won't happen. Peace isn't on everyone's mind right now.

As much as I would love to see another woodstock, and for that matter, attend one. I dont think its going to happen. I think the Riot at the last one kinda nipped it in the bud. and if they do please just dont slap it together like you did the last one. Limp Bizkit was definately not a good choice. I think if they had another theyd mostly use the bands of todays era. Sadly, the next woodstock would have bands like, Fall out boy, Eminem and all that soft rock and hip hop that pallute our radios and CD stores today but fuck I dont know any of the bands from this era anyway Im a 90's grungehead all the way. so I probably wouldnt go. unless Queens of the stone age were there Id go just to see them
