I haven't really studied the situation, but I can understanding the Idaho rancher who is not too happy about his dead calves, and wants to retaliate. Probably he has better things to do than to stay up all night with a shotgun, guarding his herd.

There will always be some conflicts of interest between wolves and cougars who need to live, and prey species who also need to live.

Personally I don't mind wolves, but cougars scare the shit out of me and I don't like to walk forest trails alone after dark. Even if I'm carry bear spray (good against anything on two or four legs within range), the cougar can attack and kill me from behind in the dark before I know he's there. Hope that's not too far off topic.

Please tell me you aren't serious. This is for shock value, right? You aren't really that retarded are you? If you are actually metally disabled then I apologize for the "retarded" comment.
Wolves are an Alpha Predator, they are responsible for keeping grazing animal herds in check by population control as well as just keeping the herds on edge so they don't sit and graze in one area too long. Without wolves you get overgrazing which erodes river banks and causes landslides.

If you're itching to see wolves or hear them howl, your chances are best at Yellowstone National Park, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and Isle Royale National Park.

Idaho ranchers get paid if they can actually "prove" that a wolf killed it, examples would be wolf tracks, wolf bites, wolf fur, etc.
I believe this is the same for Montana, and hopefully everywhere.

Watching the wolves being shot from a low flying airplane, I couldn't help but seeing my dog Maximilian under their guns. Max is probably a wolf-husky cross, though I call him a husky.

I'm all for saving the wolves, its a shame there are people who just don't care about losing such a beautiful animal.
