dikareb: wow, thanks for the artist quotes! They're perfect...da Vinci was one of the most insightful spirits, I think. Love him. And yeah, I've been to barefooters.org. It's an awesome site! I love that they have all of the letters and stuff debunking the myths. Amazing what we'll believe is lawful or unlawful just by word of mouth, right? I always thought the no shirt no shoes thing was health code. And NO, it's not illegal to drive barefoot! That's just ridiculous. It's so much safer, actually...you have way more control. Campus is officially my favorite place to barefoot. Especially in the morning when it's all dewey and foggy out. The weather's been stormy, so I've been wearing flip flops in public lately. Haha, I don't think I'm ready to rough the elements just yet...but it's an improvement that I haven't worn any other kind of shoe (or socks! yay!) since I first posted! This may sound silly...or not to you, maybe, you guys are cool...but this whole change has helped me realize how artificial and unnatural people really are. It's like we're all on a stage and our scripts are handed to us at birth and the wardrobe department decided that all actors must dress alike..and uncomfortably. No more!
I'm Glad you've been to that website. It is a great site. I've been a member for almost a year now and have been going baferoot everywhere. I started slow and over a month or two became a full time barefooter. The two things I was most supprised about was how few stores or resturaunts even mentioned being barefoot, and 2nd was how well my feet adapted to the cold Chicago winters. I did put shoes on ocasionally when it got real cold but not as often as I thought I'd have to. There have been a lot of post's on that site from College students and It seems like that is a place where you can get away it very easily. Good luck expanding your barefooting there. Like I said, go at your own pace. I've written a brochure about barefooting that will be posted on the SBL website for anyone to download and print. Its a very nice tri-fold design with a lot of interesting info on it. A few other members are proof-reading and editing it right now. It should be ready to post fairly soon. I feel having the State health dept. letter and the brochure in my pocket helps a lot when I'm confronted. In almost a year of barefooting there has only been a handfull of places where I had to leave because of no shoes. I love barefooting now and will never go back to wearing shoes. Pete
I would love to see a pic of your barefeet, knotdirty. On a side note, I saw the pics you have in your gallery. That first pic is lovely. You have beautiful eyes, you know.
What? Just the first one? haha, I only have those pictures up to show the progress of my hair.. Yeah, I'll be putting foot pictures up sooner or later to show their progress too.
A lot of people believe that, including unfortunately some cops and teachers, however it is NOT true! http://tafkac.org/legal/driving.barefoot/driving_barefoot.html Some people may argue you could still get a ticket for careless or reckless driving, but these two links should help in succesfully arguing that: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/msp/TSS_Field_Update_16_172717_7.pdf http://www.news.com.au/sundaymail/story/0,,21320070-953,00.html
Wow, I really like that statement!!! It's so true, that's how I've felt for quite a while... I can't call myself a barefooter yet, but I've reached the stage where I don't care what people think. I've only gone barefoot about 3 times, but it's been soooo great... I noticed when I came in the house the first time that the carpet in my house felt softer and I could suddenly feel the nuances in the tile. Crazy stuff. Oh, and I found this website really interesting too: http://stason.org/TULARC/health/barefoot/07-Is-is-actually-healthy-to-go-barefoot.html
Same here. I can't really call myself a barefooter, sadly...I work a lot these days, framing artwork and stuff...and there's broken glass everywhere, so I can't really go without shoes. It sucks. I feel more like myself when I can just let my hair down (literally.) and kick my shoes off. Work makes both things impossible.
If you say yourself that your feet are fat and ugly- keep 'em covered. It may feel good to be bare, but no one wants to see nasty feet.
I completely disagree. If you think you have ugly feet, don't let that stop you. Who cares what other people think? If barefooting is what you love, then do it!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don't let other's subjective opinions of beauty get between your feet and the world. BARE THEM ALL!!
