Recently me and my buddies were tripping together when we started talking about all the 2012 theories and listened to a bunch of Terrence Mckenna videos.. our conversations just ended getting way to deep and everyone freaked >.< But I was just curious to as all of your thoughts on the subjects of 2012 and if you think McKenna was wise or not?
According to the Mayan calendar, we are to complete the fourth and enter the fifth cycle on 12/21/2012. When we transitioned from the third to fourth cycle, there was a noticeable change in the way that people all over the world perceived everything around them. Languages began to form and beautiful art works were being painted in caves. The Mayans believed that the fifth cycle will bring about a new spiritual age. Think of it as a sort of upgrade to your brain, although it may not be instantaneous.
According to my calendar, the Olympics will be held in 2012. It's also an election year for the United States. I predict that by 2012, it will cost more than $120 U.S. to fill my gas tank and there will be floods, tornadoes, bombs, and wars, just like every other year. Terrence McKenna was brilliant, but he was no Nostradamus. Even Nostradamus wasn't that great, he was more like a tarot reader than a prophet.
i think terrance's work with timewave zero is brilliant. it all matches up the the conscious shift of the world perfectly. the gaining and losing of left and right consciousness throughout time. Nostradamus predicted it, the mayans predicted it, terrance predicted it, we predicted it. i believe 2012 is the end of the old world and the beginning of the new, a more conscious world where love, reason, and logic will prevail.
its kind of hard to explain but try and look at all humanity over the course of time. look at in what points in time the world was experiencing high frequencys of brain activity in human development. think about at what cultures had these mystic senses and told the storys of higher beings, think about the renaissance period and all the great minds there, and how classical music is brilliant brilliant artwork, and the minds who created that brilliant art work such as mozart were geniuses. when you look at the mind of say Leonardo De Vinci you see how he is a prodigy, his work is that of a higher concious. now if you notice there have been more inventions in the last 20 years then there has been in the rest of all of history. this timewave zero is chart that marks these high points of concious but the graph goes down and up until the end date which is 2012 this is when the concious will be done, and a new higher conscious will arise. like i said its very hard to explain, ive done a lot of research tho and a lot of things add up. i can't say for sure that this will happen, but it is possible. i mean nothing is really that crazy when you think about the fact the craziest thing of all is how we are even here in the first place.
I don't like to come across as overly-cynical, but I expect that faith in theories such as these is largely drug-induced. In my opinion, open-mindedness is generally a very positive human trait. The use of certain psychoactive chemicals can increase open-mindedness, and I think this is one of the major benefits of psychedelic drug use. However, it seems to me that TOO MUCH open-mindedness can breed ignorance and/or even insanity. It was/is the pseudo-spiritual gurus (whether they foretell the coming of gods, aliens, lizard monsters, etc.) of the psychoactive drug culture who have done the most to alienate users and paint them as "nuts" in the minds and media of modern society. I understand that it must feel good to believe one holds magical, immeasurable, other-worldly truths about the prophecies of a dead civilization, but humility and humanism can both be wonderful concepts to explore while experimenting with psychedelic drugs. You might even feel better for it. True humility can be a very powerful, positive experience - perhaps even better than the assumption of self-aggrandizing spiritual enlightenment. ^that summed it up pretty well being open minded is useless without a discerning mind, thats actually nothing short of ignorant, naive, gullible. soon as you separate the apples from the oranges you understand the concept of judgement, and create your own morals. but yeah, not doubt McKenna was wise.. and i feel that by 2012, there will be a change...but who's to say the date? i mean just by the circumstances of this world, you know there needs to be a change, and every generation experiences this change to different degrees..but to put a measuring stick on it is ridiculous. perhaps it will be 2011, nobody really knows. all i know is that it needs to come soon
I personally think "2012" is just pseudo-scientific bullshit, in the same vein as astrology, which saddens me because Mckenna spoke a lot about it. I respect everything that man has ever said, except when it was about 2012. There is a difference between being open-minded and being gullible and irrational.
