Can someone explain what this is to me? I've never heard it before and looking through other posts it seems important....
as far as i can tell its the ability to move your conciousness around dreamland. probably another fancy name for dreaming. but with the added ability to exert some control over what you create so its also termed lucid dreaming.
Also; Astral Projection & OBE(Out of Body Experience) Though, you could just look to wiki for some good info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out-of-body_experience Also related to NDE's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near-death_experience ---------------- Now playing: Snog - The De-evolutionaries
astral travel takes on many forms. you can "go astral" during sleep at night (most of us do this, and call it dreaming), or while awake, or appear to go to sleep, but have experiences outside of this plane of existence and be aware of what's going on in both places.... among others. i first started experiencing astral travel when i was younger and did a lot of drugs. i did a lot of astral travel while high or tripping. but then i realized i could do this without needing to take drugs. it's a state of mind, with meditative qualities... just relax and let yourself feel freed of your body, and you just might find yourself somewhere else!
i had a cool one once years ago. i didnt know what it was until recently. i nodded off and ended up floating round my room looking at myself in my body, my physical body was asleep on the chair and everything was as it was, i sneaked in to peep at my then boyfriend who was snoring in bed in the next room, when i got back looking at myself my leg fell off the arm of the chair and woke me up. i remember being sucked back in pretty quick. it was cool. i can float through walls and stuff now.. whooo hooo
so how would i go about doing it? would i be able to remember it when i wake up? sorry i need to know all these things lol
picas, i am no expert, and make a crappy teacher...sorry. i've only just started too within the last few weeks. go on astral society website or astral dynamics website and the forums if u wish they will be able to answer your questions. maybe learn how to become lucid in dreams. thats how i started. google lucid dreaming. and yeh you will wakey up and remember if you first have intent to do so.
also, just practice meditating. lay down in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and breathe slowly and deeply. let your mind become free. try to release thoughts and perceptions, and go deeper within. allow your spirit to have full access to your mind, and let it all float free. let go of perceptions that you are your body, and you must be in your body. try not to force or try anything, just let things feel like they're floating. keep breathing deeply. you cannot force yourself out of your body, but neither can your mind leave your body if you believe that you are your body. in astral travel, the only thing that exists is your mind. your body is irrellevant. on many astral trips, i have not been aware of any body existing at all. on some, i have a body that looks like my own, on others i have a different body... that of a man, some other woman, a cat, whatever. sometimes you will remember what you saw or did on your journey, other times you will just "come to" with a feeling of restfulness, refreshed and more grounded (or at least, that's what happens with me). many times when we journey into the astral planes, we are "going home." we are reconnecting with reality, which transcends this planet, this galaxy, all these things we think of as real. it is a place of energy, rather than form. any form it takes, is purely for the benefit of us understanding, as we tend to categorize and understand things only in terms of things that we have experience with, which is the material world. but releasing the idea that things follow specific laws (gravity, etc.) and that certain things are "impossible" (human flight, or animals talking in a language we can understand, for example) is essential to astral travel, as often things that are quite extraordinary happen on these journeys. just keep practicing the meditation and freeing of the mind from the body, and you will be flying freely in no time.
so... say i could become Lucid in dreaming.. could i choose to fly? Could I change scenes or could i perfom magic? That kinda thing... that would be awesome....
well, first off, have the conviction you can do it. before you go to bed tell your self you have it. (not want it, or will have it) but you have it. see what happens. check your reality about every hour in the waking world, to differentiate between waking and sleeping reality. choose a method that would not warp your mind too much, and perhaps not something too strange,(like jumping from a chair,,,etc to see if you can fly!!) as i doubt you want people looking at you thinking your a wierdo, and you dont wanna get too excited when you realize your dreaming, cos most times you wake up. what most people reccomend is checking their hand every hour to begin with, and if it dont do anything or look kind of odd, your in waking world. so when you are in dreamland, you will automatically look at your hand...so then is the best time to make it do something odd, like grow another finger...that kinda thing you know...for starters...
ah alright thanks... but you said i'll wake up if i get too excited? How am I meant to be not excited when i can fly?
