what the hell??? no filter???

my bf just bought me my first pipe... so as I put in some ground bud, lit it up....

and got a mouthful of weed.
WTF?
do I need a filter or something? I'm so pissed!!

 

glass? metal? metal pipes use metal screens that you buy at a head shop.. glass bowls use glass screens which are just like little glass pebbles.. if you have a glass pipe just use a pebble from outside.. go grab one.. wash it off.. put it over the hole and then pack weed on top

 

You may have ground up the weed small enough that it fell through the hole on the pipe, and if you have glass that will go away as the pipe is used and collects resin. Hopefully your pipe doesn't shit on you much more.

 

ye that sux i hate when that happens thats why i always hate my shake becuase it always falls threw my bowl,just try not to grind it up too much and you should be good

 

Scoobie snax! i use a bigger piece of weed as a glass screen.

 

the pebble trick works.i do it with my glass pipe.it sux when you inhale a cherry!!

 

^^^ yea.. and you usually only have to use the pebble for like maybe 4-6 bowl packs and then the hole should be resined enough to not need a screen

if glass just drop a whole bud in unground

 

because your ganj will burn more even and ya seem to burn up a bud way faster if you just stick it in there cuz ya gotta torch it to make it stay lit

Either you chopped it up or didn't pack it tightly enough.

I usually just drop a whole thing in there unless I feel like taking the time to break it up.

 

just leave a little nug to put in the bottom of the pipe, and then ground on top. How have you never smoked out of a pipe before?

 

I suggest that if he bought you a metal pipe, you throw it away.

Haha, it's just a personal preference. I hate metal pipes. And if it is one, yes, you need a screen.

 

i usually clean it after 3 uses.it just tastes gross after that point.but the pebble also keeps the ashes from being sucked through.so its no big deal,pebbles are easier to get than screens and theyre free!!

 

like I may have said (i forgot), its glass... since the resin has been building up, its been better... I still get a little ash.

 

You won't get ash if you remember not to suck too hard when the bowl is almost finished.

 

what should I do about the shake?

 

smoke it, I found that shake if you pack it in tighter its less likely to pull through. As Joker stated earlier a small pebble works wonderfully as a screen. Soon enough the bowl will be so resinated that the bud almost glues itself in there and doesnt pull much.

I've found that packing it tight, super tight, definately helps. See, I'm used to a bong... where you broke it up real fine and you could get more smoke...
