Anyone hear play a musical instrument? I've been playing acoustic and electric guiatar for about 6 years now, i'm still rubbish, but i really enjoy learning. just bought a new acoustic, it's amaaaazing! Anyone else play??
I started with the Piano. I began with the beginners Schaums crap. Then went on to attempt Bach and Beethoven. Then I kind of hopped onto the synth train. With synths and computers, it is possible to create a complete orchestra at the touch of a button. I have laid down my talent, buried it, only occasionally I visit the tombstone which reads: Here lies J0hns hopes and dreams. I aint tinkling the ivory no more. It is more plastic moulded keys in Tottenham Court Roads, Sound Control. Judging by the lack of response on this thread, I take it that there isn't anyone who can play an instrument. A triangle would be too difficult:lol:
I can't play anything, but I've demonstrated so onstage almost 200 times, and on record/CD maybe ten times - the trick is to do so with other people, and play for laughs if solo
Hmm let's see.. All kinds of flutes (western, native american you name it except pan pipes) Guitar a teensy bit, few chords and I can play Black Sabbath's Paranoid and Iron Man Keyboard/piano.. not a lot, can't do two hands haha, my brain ain't set up that way.
its good to see other people playing instruments. The fiddle is a great instrument to play moon beam. are you very good? J0hn, thats really sad you don't play anymore, why did you give up?
I started off playing the recorder at primary school, then went on to treble recorder. Also, was given a keyboard for my 5th birthday so I am ok at piano/keyboard, but nowhere near to being proficient. After getting bored of that I learnt to play the flute when I was about 5 or 6. Then my sister got a clarinet, so I taught myself to play that. After 3 years of flute, my teacher leant me her piccolo, so I played that for a while. Nowadays not really playing woodwind all that much, mainly focus on Bass guitar and sometimes when I'm at a campfire or something...acoustic guitar. My largest passion at the moment is music software (Reason, Logic, Sibelius, Cubase etc) and synthesisers etc, I love manipulating sounds and writing strange ambient worldbeat/dance music.
Do you think every primary school teaches kids recorder? we all had recorder lessons at primary school. Its the parents i feel sorry for. :& Sounds like you're very musical fountains of nay. Bass guitar is a great instrument! and your latest music passion sounds really interesting. sounds like quite an expensive hobby?? have u got all the synthesisers and everything?
I play piano, Tin Whistle, Bodhrain, keyboard and drum kit. I used to play clarinet and violin. I can play the first bit of smoke on the water on guitar.
Haha I reckon you might be right there... I suppose it's the easiest thing to start with, quite a basic setup and doesn't matter about small hands or lack of real, rather than babyteeth. I don't own much in the way of synths apart from a Yamaha DJX, which isn't too bad for a synth, especially when put through software. I do have friends who have synths and things that I play with from time to time though.
We had the recorder which then went onto African drums. I liked the recorder, I was good at it and thought that I could be famous for it!
Yeah we had Djembe workshops and stuffs. Also, make-your-own instrument workshops...mainly things like rainmakers etc, but was really fun I also totally forgot that my most recent musical instrument projects have been the harmonica and the Kalimba...I love my Kalimba, you can get some wicked noises out of it once put through some delay and reverb etc
I've been playing some percussion for a local band, tambourine and shakers etc. and also entertain myself with a 12 string accoustic which does get a public air with friends occaisionaly.
haha. we had those workshops to. ours was more lunch box with some rubber bands over it and a tin full of rice......the choons were flowing!!
Hello! I am a musician in the Philly area. I am primarily a drummer/percussionist! I enjoy the circles around my way and I usually try to smuggle a drum into the Philly folk fest. I also play the guitar mostly acoustic, and electric but I have been borrowing my Grandfather's lap steel from my mother and I would really like to work that out. I'm also a fantastic noise maker!
