Bugger me! As a cyclist that is my worst nightmare. I'm glad you're OK, were you hurt? Damn car drivers, you have to be doubly careful and do their thinking for them. I never go out cycling without having at least one near miss because of idiotic drivers.
ya it was pretty bad. I spent Fri night in the hospital. No broken bones, but i did hurt my knee and ankle. I still cant carry heavy stuff or walk up stairs very well. the car was a 1989 Cadillac. Had i not had a bike helmet on, id probably be dead right now. ALWAYS wear a helmet im serious.
no offense but i hate bike riders when im driving! and for that reason... im afraid im gonna hit one i hope u feel better
oh man thats not good people some car drivers think they're king of the road, an 89 cadillac thats one heavy car to get hit by, hope you get better soon
Well that's good to know! Yeah I would second mary and goatman, always wear a helmet and be very careful. Put someone in a fast moving tin box and they think they own the road. But they're not the ones who get hurt.
feckin drivers! glad to hear your ok man! i got hit by a car in '97 and the bastard nearly killed me, now i have a piece o shit for a leg- and i'll always have problems wi it. i tell ya!! some people, i donno how they're on the road. glad to hear your doin well
I don't have anything against bike riders, really, except that they're always driving down my road, which doesn't have a shoulder, and they never try to keep out of the way at all. When there are like two or three of them, they don't ride behind each other- they get side by side and take up the whole damn road and no one can pass. That would be cool if this were a little country road, but it's really not. There's an assload of traffic coming through here all the time, and all the drivers around here are idiot. I've almost died a few times when some ass in an SUV tried to pass some bikers at 60mph coming around a blind curve.... fucking morons. I really wouldn't mind giving up like three feet of my yard or whatever to build a bike lane, because it's so dangerous and I'm surprised there aren't more accidents, but no one else seems to think like I do. They're too stingy with their property. Blah.
Oh man. I got hit by a duelie (one of those twin back tire pickups) about a year ago so I feel you. Lucky for me he just clipped the backend so I was ok ( a busted lip, a bunch of scrapes) but the bike was trashed. Then of course, he hauled butt. I wasn't even on the road itself. Even the country roads can get dangerous. Rednecks in pickups absolutely despise cyclists whether you're actually on the road or not and some of them consider it their duty to swerve at you. On top of the afformentioned safety I'd suggest a good mountain bike for country riding in the south usa. I hope you get to feelin' better man.
There are a lot of bikers that ride down my street. They always stay in the middle of the lane even if your'e waiting to get past, so you have to pass it like you would a normal car on the highway. But it's not a highway, it's a two goddamn lane road, one lane each direction. So you have to get into the opposite lane with oncoming traffic to pass the bastards. It's dangerous and usually you have to spend a few minutes going 9 MPH behind the biker while you wait for an open space in the opposite lane long enough to pass. All you bikers. . . I'm sorry, but you're a pain in the ass.
I almost got hit walking off my bus a few months ago. Some crazy bitch decided she was in too much of a hurry to stop for the bus. She was going about 30 and stopped about 5 inches away for me. She was kinda cute too, too bad she didnt bumb me a bit and had to take me to the doctors. PS: pear, I absolutely love your sig. kudos.
eh, dont feel to embarassed, i was hit by a PARKED CAR and i chipped my tooth in half so half of my tooth is fake.....the i chipped it out after that by getting slammed in the face with a door, eating a sugar daddy and eating peanuts.....fell bad now? :&
My son was almost hit by a car that was exiting a shopping center driveway. He had to stop real fast and he flipped over the handlebars. Messed up his hand pretty bad, but he's better now. Thank Goddess he was wearing his helmet-the entire left side was crushed. It coulda been his skull. That was a scary phone call to get at work: "Mom, I got into an accident", from my 12 year old... I don't think I breathed, the whole way home...
You know, for all you people complaining about bikers, I have a few things to say. First of all, I come across a whole lot more asshole car drivers than I do asshole bike riders and I'd be willing to bet you do too. Second of all, just because we paved roads primarily for cars to drive on doesn't mean we own them and have to complain about everyone else who isn't driving one. I grew up near a heavily populated Amish area and people are always complaining about "those damn horse and buggies." Well those "damn horse and buggies" and "those damn bikers" aren't the ones burning fossil fuels and killing animals in the road, so let's give them a little break. I hope you feel better, Goatman.
