I read somewhere that children at Rainbow-gatherings are quite often exposed to the spectacle of public brutality.

From a purely ethical standpoint brutality is OK because the participants have already agreed that to partake, that person must have already subjected themselves to the experience.

Like attracts like and no-one wants to stop chess players congregating in the park or ravers doing their thing.

So from a purely ethical stanpoint there is no problem with people congregating to tear chunks off each other, except when the gullible are inducted under the guise of Democracy or religion.

Sure, a group may cast lots to see who amongst them will be the next victim, or offer incentives to newcommers. But quite often, I think, the unwary are drawn into the practice without realizing that their gullibility is being preyed upon.

The practice is endemic! The violence on television is an inducement! So I'm not picking on the Rainbow-gatherings in particular.

A scenario may be to expose people to as much violence as possible to convince them that it is a natural part of existance aided by the respectability of Democratic sanction and 'forgiveness'.

No-one needs the 'forgiveness' of a consenting victim. They need forgiveness from the gullible.
    --------------------------------------

Aside from the twisted tactics society uses to attract the gullible let's talk about the actual occurence: You're laying there screaming while someone's getting their rocks off and you decide you've had enough, that's the end of it, you get up and walk away (or carried away). But suppose you are held against your will and the practice continued? You've cause for complaint, to harbor resentment. Perhaps you will follow your lifelong training and forgive, or perhaps you wont, and if not then I suppose The Golden Rule is invoked and what 'goes around comes around' and in such an instance there's really nothing anyone can do except exclaim "It's the Will Of Allah!" (and try to teach people to avoid getting into that predicament)

everyone learns from examples they are exposed to, even when adult and choosing or attempting not to. when these examples are sufficiently diversified, no one, nor single flavor of them, will overpower the influence of others, and of our own free choice and will; but when one is expossed only to a single influence, or narrowly limited range of them, then the there is a clear danger that when faced with an unfamiliar situation, such an influence will be the only known script to turn to.

attempting to ban one or another influence is not ever an effective answer in any positive way, but rather, insuring adiquite exposere to such a sufficient and liberating diversity alone can be and is.
