Do you throw broken appliances and such away (or recycle)? Or do you keep them on display in the yard like a true redneck? Or are you like me and use them for something else?

Haha, we have a full-size fridge with a freezer on top that needs more freon and we use it as an extra cabinet. And all of the empty computer towers we have we use as end tables, lol. I feel like a true pack rat.

negative, if something breaks and I can't fix it, it's going in the trash. of course, I don't own any "real" stuff like appliances and such, or even a house to put them in.

i tend to freecycle things, with teh warning that theyre broken o rmay not work. generally in a package of stuff too, so at least they get some decent stuff to boot (ie espresso maker that may or may not work with some other kitchen things that i have no use for)

i put them on my local freecycle. however, true to my rural mississippi upbringing i'll keep some things and use as a shelves or for storage.

about 20 years ago, while living in san francisco i showed my true "country upbringing", i had a working tv on top of a broken one.

i keep alot of my stuff, if it breaks, and i can use it for something, i will. but then i end up being such a pack rat, i just start giving everything away or throwing it away, thats where i am right now. I just gave a crapload of clothes and videos to my friend yesterday, im just like "you like that? you want it? have it! take it! theres more!"
I have too much clothes, its taking over the house.

i tend to keep everything until i run out of room and have to throw away a whole bunch of shit.

sometimes it's fun to get drunked up and smash non-functioning appliances too...

I find other uses for a lot of stuff.Nothing like painting somthing up and making something all new and functional out of it.

I give a lot away. I am lucky ,I may not be a pack rat- but I know quite a few. They see me say I am going to trash something they take it.

...but we've trashed a lot, too, need the space.
There are some things sitting cluttering my garage though .. with no place to go. I keep meaning to do something about that.

I'm not a pack rat in the sense that I collect junk...
i mean, if something is broken beyond use, beyond repair, i get rid of it.
But some scuffs or scratches or glitches? Meh, it adds character!
I love old stuff... has more sentimental value.

    No.

If it breaks I take it outside, grab some friends, some beer, a sledge hammer, and some gasoline.

i either fix it or smash it into pieces.

electronics these days are more or less disposable anyways. ever try to fix a burnt out diode in the last 15 years? you need a complete micro-lab.
