If you don't beleave me take a look at this article on this http://cannabisculture.com/articles/3508.html Im not sure how much of it is fact because I just read it, but it looked like some good reasons to ban the drug war in my opinion.
I agree. Decriminalize drugs like marajuana so we can stop throwing the users in jail. If you aren't going to legalize it, that way you can at least still jail the distributors. The taxpayers have spent way too much money on this drug war, with no positive affect. Drug usage has not gone down. Jails are full. If we stop having to import our pot than that would defeat those drug lords in one fatal swoop. If pot was legal to produce in the US we could tax it, and do soemthing good with the money. Social programs maybe. Also, more teens in the US smoke pot than in the Netherlands where it is legal. If there isn't such a taboo around the subject, and so much misinformation all over the place our kids would be better educated and make smarter decisions. (Kids don't fall for that "pot will kill you, or make you kill your brother, or make you run over a girl on a bike" crap) There is that and some other interesting facts in this link: http://www.mpp.org/adolescents.html
The government won't ever decriminalize or legalize drugs, especially drugs like coke and heroin because the government and the CIA are the ones who ship it in here and sell it, that is how they make all their money for covert CIA operations. this is a public record, check out Michael C Ruppert's Website www.fromthewilderness.com. He was an LAPD officer who worked in the drug department, he wasn't even looking at the CIA as a suspect for drug running, but during his investigation, ran into evidence proving that the Crack Cocaine explosion in black neighborhoods was a CIA operation to destroy the black communities. Peace and Love, Dan
Some day our fearless leaders will come to the realization that one cannot legislate morality. The United States' war on drugs is a public relations scam anyway; by their own admission, they interdict an amazingly small percentage of drugs for the amount of time and money spent to do so. It is also worth noting that many of the problems associated with drug use (violence, deaths, burglaries, etc.) are largely caused by the illegality of drugs.
The fact is, over 70% of surveyed Americans believe in marijuana law reform, the decriminalization of non-violent drug offenders, namely users. People arrested for small amounts of cannibus possession in some states, such as (NJ) are charged with misdeamenors, yet attached is a supposed "mandatory" penalty of $1000 fine with *6 months in prison*, presumably alongside inmates who've committed violent crimes. Just so happens that in less than 12 hours I will stand before a court. My charges- possession of marijuana, specifically...1 lone joint. 1 marijuana stogie. The simple fact that because I was caught with this in my American Spirit cigarette pack I now face up to 6 months behind bars is astounding and is one of the basic examples of United States domestic imperialism. Essentially, a war on the underclasses...the under-priviledged...those who cannot purchase their way to freedom. The so-called "war on drugs" is indeed a form of class warfare, and is not about busting and apprehending "dangerous criminals" or making the streets safer for the innocent. It's about many things... but it's not a war on drugs, but a war on the proverbial "average Joe". Hopefully the next time I post won't be 6 months from now...
no Trin, the cops *are* going to be present at the trial...I sent you a message on yahoo telling you, did you get it? They said that they don't want to get me in trouble...so we'll have to wait and see what happens. I have to be at the court in a couple hours, so I'll post when I get back--whether it's tonight or half a year from now. Peace out everybody
It'd be nice if the drug war would end, but as they have shown numerous times our government could give a fuck less about humanity
guess he was! I'm back...exhausted but it's done. Everything was dropped except I have to pay a really nasty fine -$650 (down from $1000). It's a war on poor and working class people, no doubt. I just got lucky cuz the arresting cops were really cool about it.
At least you didn't have to spend anytime in jail man. I think your right though it's against all of us poor and working class people. The only reason they do it though is because it puts a hell of a lot more money in their pockets.
I'm so fucking glad to hear that, Revo! Of course, it's bullshit that you gotta pay a fine for it, but hell, at least yer on the street still. Now, pay up quick and get out here, eh? Trin
ha, like it'll be that easy! this $650 is really slowing shit down. I can easily tack on an extra 4 months slowing me down from getting out there...due to my possessing and getting caught with 1 joint. I'll be out there by late summer, '05, I'd say...because of this.
I'm sorry, but that is just horrific to me. $650 bucks over a joint? There was no victim to your crime, except maybe yourself. It's a shame that our government is trying to make money off of drug users. It really has to stop. This is one of the worst things our gov't does, in my opinion. Don't put drug users in jail. If you want to go after someone go after the distributors! I was watching an episode of cops the other day, and they were waiting near a known drug house, and pulling over everyone that bought drugs from this house and taking them to jail. Now, someone tell me why they didn't just go arrest the guy selling the drugs (which is a much larger offense) when they had him right there selling it to people....but no, rather than arrest the 1 drug dealer, they would sit outside his house and arrest 5-6 people buying from him. That is just sick and disgusting to me. I've always tried to like police officers (my dad used to be one) but this type of shit makes it impossible.
That's really just so stupid, you can see why they'd do it: they get more money through fines. This is a class war, and a stagnant one at that. The is no progress, just a beaurocracy trying to maintain it's existance. They have large funding and they want to keep it that way. And revo, glad to see you didn't get jail time. Sucks that you basically bought a $650 dollar joint. That better have been good weed! Jokes aside though, I feel for you. It's not fair the way this all goes down. My manager at work got busted and had 2000 dollars in fines, plus a year of probation. My cousin, a fellow stoner, says he'd rather have it decriminalized than legalized, says he'd rather not have the govt all up in his smoking business, taxing and controlling it. I say just get some seeds and grow your own. At any rate, I can't see why decrim is better than legalized.
thanks guys, and that's precisely what I said to the judge. I read him a prepared statement that I wrote the night before, and part of it was that the so-called war on drugs is a form of class warfare. Something needs to get done. Too many people are opposed to this obsolete law that keeps non-violent marijuana smokers labeled "criminals". It has to stop.
