Hello all, I'm in China right now and was wondering if anyone knows the deal on pharmaceuticals opiates. Is a prescription needed? What are the names for them in Chinese. The pharmacists here don't know what codeine, hydrocodene etc are. Does anyone know the name of chinese pharmaceutical opiates and whether they are readily available? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
There is opium in China, but fuck me if I know where you can find it. Chinese law is gnarly (but don't sweat the cops if you have a run in. I got in a huge fight with a cab driver in the middle of the night in a residential area. The cops came, were crazy polite, and helped me out far more than any US cop ever has.) The only real drug scene seems to be in Shanghai, and they're club kids who seem really into ketamine. Which I don't real feel. Still, if you're in Shanghai, go to Bon Bon. 88 Yuan cover for dudes, free drinks therefter, and if you're from LA they'll be really really stoked on you. Just remember, the hot chick dancing on stage is a dude.
If I recall correctly, when the Communists took over they executed anyone with opium enacting pretty much the only successful total prohibition in the world. I think that I would check up on laws real close, man.
thats so fucking scary...like what if other countrys were like that with drugs...there would be no more drug addicts or at least cut in half...but that would SUCK. i know singapore(i think) practiced the death penalty for drug trafficking,,, but china killed people for using?
