I'm confused- are they given the questions and time to rehearse their answers before the debate?

    no.

it seems that only certain skeptical people who believe the entire american government is rigged seem to think so ;)

Yes - the Bush/Kerry debates had a 32 page legal agreement beforehand which stipulated that they know all the questions (no questions too controversial), that the opponent not be permitted to directly question the other guy himself (bush demanded this one), and that the moderator can't make up his own follow-ups. I also just read an article about these debates that described how both Bush and Kerry have been practicing nonstop with coaches and memorizing their "lines" - that's why they kept saying the same phrases over and over.

Nah.... more like the people who are awake. It's not really a matter of skepticism.

    does it really matter?

    really.
    no opinion here.
based on what you saw/heard does it really matter if it was rehearsed?

    i am left confused myself.

but not because i did not get a clear veiw of what the candiates stood for, but because i do not know the best path for world i want to see.

one one hand i want to vote for nadeor write in kucinich to state bush/kerry is not a choice.
one the other hand i want to vote for kerry because bush is as mainlined into the currupt dark organisim that is shrouding this country/world as it gets.
one the other had i want to vote for bush because he is a war monger and a true idiot and if not for him the great catalist he is, i would still be asleep to the lullaby of someone like clinton.

at least I heard Kerry worded his way around him...I'm not too worried about the specifics...only getting what I feel to be the better of two outcomes, as that is the reality of the situation....

This article did not suggest the questions were made known to the candidates. Anyways, who cares? The questions asked were obvious ones, I could've rehearsed for them too, everyone knows what questions are likely to be asked.

Most of the stipulations were insisted on by the Bush campaign. The short time limit for answering ?'s seems to have worked in Kerry's favor though, he had to be succinct which appeals to stupid Americans.

    I don't agree with Bush.
    I don't trust Kerry.
Nader seems like a logical choice.

Moderater Lehr said that he and he alone knew the questions beforehand.

He seems like a honest guy.

Did anyone notice how all of the networks showed shots of the candidates while the other was speaking.

An absolute waste of a vote on a canidate who never has and never will have a chance at being anywhere near president.
