I hope you get some responses ... but just thought I'd post here to say that, legally, he can not take or keep your belongings. Nor can he keep money that you earned at your own job. It is a simple matter of taking it to the police. In many states (I don't know all the individual laws), you'll get a police escort to pick up your things.

If this is an abuse situation - please seek a woman's shelter. They will help you do the same, i.e. take your belongings back, try to get your money back, and keep this guy away from you.

Most importantly, keep yourself safe. Belongings and checks are not worth more than your life. You can always start over. It will be difficult, but worth it.

Anyway, I hope you do find someone with whom to talk. Though, do be careful of posting your personal number online. All I have is a pay as you go phone, so I wanted to let you know here that you're not alone, and you're not the first woman to go through this ... you can certainly overcome this, there is support out there. :)

I wondered what was happening with your situation.Good advice from wonder.Sounds like a fresh new start is a good idea. Some changes we're ready for and some we're not. With lessons learned in life, unfortunately the final exam comes first and then the learning begins.Make your own luck from here on out.

I wish the best for you, and yes, one of my teachers told me that it is a very common problem in this society when husband and wife have a shared bank account etc.. and eventually break up.
I really hope in any way that you'll find a better person in your life, i'm sure that you will :).
