I hear alot about farm communes, forest communes, and the land locked stuff, buthow about a tropical island commune? There are thousands of small, un claimed islands out there, with plenty of fish, fresh water streams, edible plants..its also insanely isolated, especially if no one knows you are there. You could keep a small bush plane, or hire one at intervals in case something happened, or even keepan emergency gps beacon (just in case, you dont want to catch a tropic bug and rot away because you cant get professional help.)
I think that would be amazing, and fairly easy to accomplish. Anyone ever heard of such a place?

Hey, this sounds like a good thing on the surface, but there are some things to consider when discussing a tropical lifestyle. Fresh water, insects, reliable food sources, etc. It's always good to be knowledgable in survival skills. Water purification, use of medicines or medicinal plants, and deciphering which plants and animals are safe to eat are paramount. Handling or eating some fish can sicken or kill you, too. But it would be cool if you could do it. Beautiful weather and a year long growing season do sound attractive.

    I can“t belive I have finally found a place like this ....
I have for years wanting to set up a comunal stily living somewere rather than england, mainly because of the weather ... too expensive to heat, to many trees to cut on a regular basis, to much clothing to have for diferent seasons ....

and i would like to meet people with similar views ...

It is not an essay task!!!! their are a lot of considerations to take, in fact been away from england is quite dificult, mainly for medical reasons, as the realiaty we have think on what happens if any does seriously get ill or disable ... what about old age and diabetis, arthorities, MS, MI ... etc ...

Never the less, if anyone is interested on the idea, it is something that can be discussed ... I imagent that more than "tropical" in which one has also to think on hurracanes (and belive me, I lived huracane wilma and it is not fun in the long run, not because one may have to start from 0, but all the other things that it brings, lack of food, water, shelter, illness ...) ...

Also it is expensive to do it ... it is not as simple as it seems, for starters the land! the materials require to start must be transported, the corruption in such places, the language, transport, education for children, medicine for children and eldery ... alot of planning has to go into it ... I was thinking that if a whole bunch of people got together, get to know each other, all get prepare, do courses, get moneys, gain knoladge ...etc .. it is something viable ... but we do need a strong group with all sort of qualities, and what is needed we must learn, and lets not lie to ourself, we do need strong economie to set it up and maintained, it is not just to live of the land ... their are tools, medicine, transport ... but the main thing is the land, taxes ... and unfortuanlly it is expensive, but cheaper in the long term ... anyway ... anyone interested, in considering doing some sort of communal living that is not in england let me know ... and lets roll ... :)
