i was thinking the other day about what a calendar based on the moons cycle would look like. would there be 13 months in a year? would it be perfect (like no leap year?) the 1st would always be the full moon perhaps? anyway id like to have one, if anybody has a link to some such thing i'd appreciate it..

me too, wideyed, you could have 13 28 day(4 week) months = 364 days. The left over day could be a worldwide holiday or something. It would make planning simple, as the days of the week would always be the same, ie. the first would be Monday, always.
    sorry no link though.

yeah i'm still waiting hopefully. i might have to go look for it myself...sigh.

i think i'll give them as presents to all my friends, if i ever find one.

and could you use the same calendar year after year? maybe carve it into a nice piece of hardwood and hang it on the wall..

the ancient romans used a moon based calendar, but it didn't work because of the extra day and some other stuff. We learned all about it in my astronomy class, it was really interesting, I think what happened is that the seasons got all thrown off after years of having it.

Or calendar now doesn't acount for 24 seconds out of the year, they're left over, but it's gonna take a damn long time for that to catch up, lol

so that would explain the "day out of time" in the lunar calendar posted.. its that 365th day that keeps everything in line

that's true, but a year is acctually 365 1/4 days, that's why we have leap year every 4 years, to balance it out. I guess that every 4 years you could have 2 days out of time. I prefer to go by moon cycle anyway though
