    3 people walk into a hotel and order a room each for the night, each person pays the £10 the room will cost. After they have paid the receptionist remembers there was a deal on and they can hire 3 rooms for £25. So the bell boy takes the £5 and goes up to give each of them their share of the £5 back. On the way up he cant work out how much each should get so he decides to keep £2 for himself and give each £1 back.
    So... each person has paid £9, the bel boy has kept £2, where did the last £1 go?

    Wait.... if the room ended up being 25... then the manager kept 25, sent five with the boy, he took 2, and each person got 1.... there isn't a dollar missing.... right?

    It's all in how it's said...There is no missing pound...

    They were shorted by the bellhop...

    9x3=27 -2 (that the bellhop stole)= 25

    There is no missing pound.

    Ok so they paid the receptionist 30 dollars (3 people at 10 dollars each).
    The receptionist then realizes that he made a mistake and could've given the 3 people the room/s for 25 dollars; so he returns the 5 dollars to the 3 people through the bellhop. (30 dollars - 5 dollars back = 25 dollars)
    The bellhop can't make change (and it becomes obvious why he is a bellhop) and decides to take 2 dollars for himself (also a theif... WATCH YOUR BAGS!!!). (5 dollars returned - 2 dollars stolen = 3 dollars back)
    So, each person originally paid 10 dollars then recieved one back and the bellhop stole one. There is no missing dollar.

    The real riddle is why the hell did the receptionist open his/her mouth when the hotel he/she was working was making more money. This is what Hotels do! Take advantage of customers. This whole thing is his/ her fault.
    Also, fire the bellhop.
